Etsy has disabled my messages. How do I message customers? Who can I contact to re-enable messaging? I'm confused as to why my messages were disabled.
Howdy!

Sending too many messages in a short period of time will cause Etsy to disable them. Why are you messaging buyers?
If you regularly contact customers to thank them or let them know when you ship, you may have had customers who were also sellers who were advised to mark your messages as spam so that they can keep their star seller status. It's obviously wrong to do this, but it's always recommended here in the forums.
One or two sellers marking the message as spam wouldn't do it. And this seller sells digital downloads, so there would normally be little to no contact required.
In the past, this has happened when a seller sent out numerous emails (usually 50 or more) in a short period of time.
I don't know the numbers but our fellow sellers should not be contributing to this.
Marking a message as spam is not only recommended here in the forums, but I have seen Etsy reps say to do it on lots of occasions. Personally, I think it is wrong. Marking a message as spam does not inform Etsy and it doesn't stop you from receiving or seeing new messages from the person, it just puts the message in your spam folder. For any action to be taken you have to report the message directly to Etsy.
and i agree... so etsy needs to change the wording on our star seller badge dashboard because this is not helping.
"Messages that you mark as spam don’t count"
they need to word it differently.
i also agree with @bradgoodell about this sellers shop... there is no reason to be sending so many messages that they are ending up in spam folders or just spamming customers with something else. it is a digital download shop.
and i agree with @NoFrogsAllowed . i have seen mods in the forum telling sellers to mark messages as spam too.
Considering the extremely low price on the downloads, sending extraneous messages simply cuts into the extremely thin profit margin. Time is money.
Usually this happens when a seller sends 25-50 near-identical messages within a short period of time. You sell digital downloads which are usually fairly straight forward. Is there a reason you would need to contact your buyers frequently?
Adding one last thing: Etsy won't reconsider a message ban. It's usually 2 weeks, but if the behavior is repeated, it can be longer or even permanent.
It may also make a difference if the messages are transactional or if they are solicitations (which Etsy would consider real spam).
@MuscleGeek you never stated, Did you send out a bunch messages at one time?
