Message response rate is Wrong!

Hello, My message response rate went down because I didnt respond to a conversation in 24 hours. BUT, it was an ongoing conversation, Not a new Conversation. What happened? I thought once you were in a conversation with someone the 24 hr response was waived???

It's each new message thread, 

so if they opened a thread from a different source, you have to answer that too

etsy keeps normal messages, separate from any that come through "purchase and reviews" as a "help request" as those are the ones that start the clock counting for the buyer to open a case, and you HAVE to reply to those

I just checked. It was on the same thread I was already talking to him on. 

And I dont think Etsy can or will fix this as far as what I read in their help section about response rate problems.
