A message from August from a seller thanking me for my purchase is counting against me. I did not open my shop until September.
Hello @SavvyCrafterCo,
Please know that aside from the minimum orders, minimum sales, and customer service-centric requirements, your shop needs to be on Etsy’s platform for 90 days since your first sale before you are eligible to be evaluated for Star Seller. This means that the data prior to your shop opening won't be considered in your Star Seller eligibility moving forward. You can visit this Help Article for more information about Star Seller.
Thank you very much!
You won't be able to get Star Seller until you have been here a full 3 months, so it isn't going to count by then, don't worry.
Star Seller is based on the previous 3 months, and is awarded on the 1st of the month.
I think that message does count toward Star Seller because we only have one messaging system per account. Any further purchases made on this account with communication to you as a buyer will also count toward Star Seller.
It may be wise to open a buyer account and remember to disclose the accounts in profiles.
It would count if the seller was otherwise eligible for Star Seller, but since shops must have been trading for 90 days before they are eligible for SS, and the OP only started selling in September, they will not be eligible until Dec, by which time the August message will not be included.
@SavvyCrafterCo did you respond to the message or mark it as spam?
I did not reply. This was before I opened my shop. It was just a thank you for your purchase message. I had not even planned to open a shop yet.
You could set up "auto reply". That way you'll never miss responding to a message.

I lost my star seller badge due to not responding quick enough on messages, which was absolutely incorrect. I always respond immediately to my messages, so I don’t feel it was fair that I didn’t get it for November. Very frustrating!
@StoneHouseStudioPT: Are you basing this on the applicable CSV file? What does it say about the response time?
