I purchased an item on Etsy. The seller messaged me that there was a delay in shipping and that she would update me when she received information from the manufacturer. I did not reply within 24 hours, because I didn't think it was necessary as I was the buyer. The message response rate for my shop went down for not replying within 24 hours. Is there a way to correct this? Thank You

Doesn't matter if you're the seller or the buyer. It's necessary to either answer or spam the message within 24 hours.

This just happened to me. I didn’t know I needed to reply to a seller informing me they shipped my item. All of the information on message response is written from a seller’s perspective not a buyer. I only get a handful of messages each period so I won’t be able to reach the 95% threshold with one missed response. Etsy should revise the instructions to make it more clear.
