Many of my listings with variations are glitched. As soon as I edit the listing, all of the prices are the same. The slide "Prices Vary" is turned off for some reason. (I have never turned this off) This is happening to most of my older listings. When I move the slide back to the "on" position, all of the prices disappear and I have to remember what they were and re-enter them. I am taking a picture before editing and then turning the slide bar back on, then re-entering prices. Does anyone else see this?
You can test this by doing the following:
From your shop manager, click listings. Click variations at the top. Are there prices shown next to each variation? If not, your listings are affected and are turned off. New listings from the last year are fine, just older ones are affected.
I didn't use bulk edit and haven't raised prices in about a year. These were working fine last week, as I added a few variations for customers. Today, the "price varies" box is unchecked and when I turn it on, all the prices are empty. If I clicked save at this point, all of my variations are one price.
I have added variations hundreds of times in the past. It has never done this to me before.
I wanted to add to the thread that anyone with these issues should double check your listings in live view. Several of mine were showing that the photo variations and pricing on the back end was not affected (while others were not showing either) and when I viewed them on Etsy, the pricing and photos were not available. I had to go in and relink them and edit pricing for them to show live.
Yesterday I edited a listing with variations.
I use an AutoHotKey script that I wrote years ago to enter variations in Etsy ... it takes variations from a comma delimited text file and pastes the data in the variations fields (one run for the variation name, another for corresponding price and quantity) ... My script worked as it always does but some of the tray designations were in lower case and some of the 1's were exclamation marks (e.g. e!03 instead of E103). The oddities were here and there throughout the listing with 54 variations.
I generate the source text file from an Excel spreadsheet and I checked both. The lower case and exclamation marks were NOT in the source files.
Very weird.
I'm going to edit my AHK script to force caps lock on during the process and go slower (which is still far faster and consistent than what I can do manually) and see if that helps. I have noticed that when using scripts to automate certain Etsy tasks that slower seems to improve reliability.
Hello,we have been selling on Etsy since 2011 with 400+ listings. We have been experiencing a crazy number of glitches over the last two years. The latest glitch has removed variation pricing on the sellers end from expired and sold listings. I have not proven yet whether that info is missing from buyers end, I did see pricing no longer reads $29.99+, the + has removed which is misleading to the consumer.
For instance, one of our categories is stepping stones, the customer has two drop down menus, color and style. Style offers quantity discounts. eg. 1 step @ x$ and 3 steps and discounted unit price. There many different quantity options that offering a savings, the more you buy the more you save. Other product categories may have size options as well as quantity options which create 15+ different price points. Well, when we manually renew listings (we take this time to review a listing) we are noticing only the lowest price point populates. Stepping Stone should range from $49.99 to $720 depending on quantity, now it just reads $49.99. All of my price points for all of my variations have been deleted.
Some other problems we are experiencing...
1. Etsy is not answering their chat
2. the picture adjustment is maddening slow
3. the thumbnail adjustment does not work properly. When you adjust the thumbnail, it does not populate the change. Furthermore, the template is different so the item the buyer sees is cropped at the top and bottom.
4. We had 135 listings expire on the same day. That sucked. Everyone who had those items in their carts or hearted, those potential customers are no longer.
and there are other problems too but I am borderline ranting. Is anyone else experiencing the missing variation pricing issue? Is there a solution, short of entering all of the information again?
Thank you
@DSGardenShop: "Is anyone else experiencing the missing variation pricing issue?" Perhaps related related to the many recent threads about variation pricing such as https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Please-check-your-prices-Wrong-Prices-Showing-for-Pro...
"We had 135 listings expire on the same day." Were they listings that remained active for free even after their expiration date? https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Expiring-listings/m-p/148198783#M916241
"Etsy is not answering their chat" - if your chat is frozen, you need to contact Etsy by email ticket to have it fixed.
Yes thanks for that tip. I did open a ticket. I expect they will respond in a few weeks, which is par for the course.
@DSGardenShop it only took a day to get fixed when it happened to me, but of course you can never be sure with Etsy.
I am having the same issue and am unable to update the inventory quanities for each sku I have like I have always been able to do. Etsy Support suggested switching browers and restarting my computer which did nothing. They did tell me that they made changes but gave no solution for my problem.
I sell an item that the price varies for each size. I usually list a limited amount so I don't get overwhelmed with orders and go and edit amount available when I get to a certain point. This method has worked for me for years. This last week when I click the edit button for an order, it removes the pricing variations and puts everything to the cheapest price. If I want to update amount available I have to go into variations, click the prices vary by dimension button and re-enter all prices. Very annoying. I lost some money last week when I didn't realize it did this and sold some items at a 1/3 of cost. I just sent a message to Etsy Chat but has anyone else been experiencing this?
Variations have been glitchy in regards to price settings for a few weeks for some shops. There is an established thread about it already. I have not had this issue but my photos have been de-linked to my variations. No idea what's going on here but it sure is annoying. Etsy has time to make our dashboard stats in tiny font and separate our "home" and "recent activity section" but no capability to fix glitches.
Thank you for replying. I wasn't able to locate the earlier thread on the topic. Glad I am not the only one dealing with this non-sense.
You're definitely not and Cindy Lou Who 2 just posted a bit more information about in on her Patreon updates. I think she also recently wrote about it a bit on her weekly e commerce update if I remember correctly.
has anyone found out WHY variation pricing disappeared? or is there a fix other than re-entering all of the data? This is absolute nightmare! Probably a bigger update error than Sonos. Lucky for me, Etsy expired 1/3 of my listings (135 of 475) on April 7th so I have that many fewer active listings to generate sales to disgruntled customers who believe their getting an incredible deal only to find we must cancel their order. Also it is convenient the "new" chat is no longer operable.
No one seems to know why. Only the Etsy deities likely know the answer. Etsy is good at breaking stuff, fixing it is another thing entirely.
you can try to copy the listing and start over, we've had an issue where we corrected a listing, the variations disappeared (AGAIN) and then the listing's variations were no longer edit-able
We've been trying to report this for 2-3 weeks now to Etsy, until earlier this week, the only answer we got (even after escalating) was "clean your cache/cookies install a new browser"
Nice to see them FINALLY acknowledge the issue in an email just a few minutes ago....
What did the email say? Was this an email as a reply to your help request?
yes I also surprisingly received an email...
Hi there,
We recently identified an error that may have affected some of your listings with variations. This error could have caused these listings to be displayed to buyers and sold at incorrect prices.
We know this may be concerning, and we want to assure you that our team is actively working to resolve this issue and minimize any disruption to your business.
What you should do in the meantime:
- Review your listings with variations: Please take some time to carefully review all of your listings that offer variations to ensure the prices displayed to buyers are correct.

Next Steps:
- Please feel free to reach out to our Help Center (help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) with any questions you might have.
- We will provide further updates and guidance once we’ve fixed the error.
We sincerely apologize for any disruption this may be causing.
Thank you for being a valued member of the Etsy community.
Sincerely,
The Etsy Team
Thank you for this information!
This thread should be pinned, this information it super useful. Hopefully the suggestions that @3DFilessShop will help those that are dealing with these glitches, and fingers crossed that Etsy actually gets it fixed promptly.
Save the Listing Again: Edit and save the old listings. If the prices disappear, manually re-enter them and turn the "Prices Vary" option back on.
Try a Different Browser: Test the issue using a different browser or clear your current browser’s cache.
Add New Variations: Try deleting the old variations and adding them again.
Contact Etsy Support: If the problem persists, reach out to Etsy Support and explain the issue in detail.
These steps might help resolve the problem.
I think I see what they were working on.
Now, when you sell out of the lowest priced item, the listing changes the price to the next one up.
So no more listing things at a low price and getting away with having nothing to sell for that price.
I saw this quite a bit and I'm glad Etsy made this change.
What do you do if one of your items price was reduced, a buyer bought it and the reduced price and I am out $60, will Etsy refund me for this glitch?
The Etsy message says to contact them, I would certainly be making a fuss and telling them that it was their issue and you need your money.
I have the same issue with my recent lisitings, or if I want to update pricings on older listings. Only the domestic price is saved.
Never got a response to my first email, then finally responded to my second message. CS seems to deny that it's coming from Etsy, and asked me to log out, try another browser and do other tests.
I don't have time for tweaking and testing things to try to fix the glitch myself. We pay fees to use the platform, which should work smootly, or at least fixed in a timely manner.
@CuddleBugBlankies you have the option to cancel the orders sold at the wrong price ?
