So i posted last week about with all the messing around with Etsy keep changing things that locations are not showing in shops if the shop is outside of your country and it got deleted, so is this because its not a technical issue, because if it is supposed to be that way? it must be very confusing for buyers, they want to see where the item is coming from!? even if they add the item to the cart the Location is that tiny they might miss it and could cause problems for the sellers! not really sure what Etsy are going to gain from hiding the locations, When you look at your own country's items it tells you that the item is shipped from your country in the highlighted section, if you look at anything else in the search results from other country's it shows nothing!
this needs to be addressed!! buyers are buying items they do not even know where they are coming from.
@daisysjewellerygifts Earlier today I posted to a Thread after checking the Seller's Shop and saw "Ships from Poland". I cannot find this Thread now, after searching my Profile (I was going to reference it for you). Maybe it was deleted, I don't know.
Checking your Shop with the first listing, it says "Ships from U.K.". The thing is, not everyone is viewing the same thing, so I don't know if this is a test . *(Desktop computer, Chrome)
@ChillwolfArt so maybe its a UK thing where we cant see the location of the shop outside of the UK!
I don't know, that's very possible. In the Thread I was going to reference, I can't remember if the Seller from Poland (whose Shop I checked), was the OP or another poster within that Thread. It seemed like they couldn't see the location part on their listing either, yet I could. Weird for sure.
Yes, I noticed this too yesterday - but I seem to remember this being an issue a few months ago because see where having trouble helping sellers in the forum and we couldn't tell where they were shipping from.
Edited to add: I'm seeing the 'ships from' country on my tablet (using Chrome). But I couldn't see it yesterday on my desktop (also Chrome). Very strange. I suppose it could be a test - this is the only explanation is can think of for seeing different things using the same browser. I am also seeing the price and shop name in different places on different devices.
It seems that Etsy wants people to not know that the "lovingly handmade" item they are buying from a shop that says they are from the "United States" is really coming from a third world country where workers have no safety rules and are paid pennies.
I LOVE ETSY!
You nailed it!
Plus, they're hoping it'll increase conversion rates if buyers can't see where it ships from; a far-away location might have stopped them buying previously whereas now they might order w/o being aware it might take several weeks for their item to arrive.
I don't see this being a boon to buyer retention as I can see a lot of pissed-off, never to return buyers in the future.
@daisysjewellerygifts Not just a UK thing. Looking at various listings from my desktop, I saw no ships from locations .
oh my (sad face)
yes mine was from a desk top so maybe its just on that rather than the App.
Some american addreses contains lebanon, palestine..
i am sure they will be happy getting free gifts
what do you mean?
@InterStore The OP is not in the business of giving away free gifts. In fact, I would venture to say most of us are not and do not understand your comment. Would you explain?
@ChillwolfArt im still at a loss with that one lol i guess we will never know!
@daisysjewellerygifts True. If I posted something and someone asked me what I meant by it because I was not clear, it's common courtesy for me to come back and explain, rather than ignore the person I posted to.
xx Lebanon, PA 17042
Without united states
May well go to lebanon
All around the world
Is it so difficult to understand
"Is it so difficult to understand"
If it was easy to understand, I wouldn't have asked what you meant.
I suppose any package can erroneously go on a scenic route. But it isn't fair to look for trouble where there is none, to state that the OP @daisysjewellerygifts could be distributing "free gifts" with certain addresses.
The zip code in your example 17042, is clearly in Pennsylvania, not overseas. The Post Office would have to be pretty daft to get that mixed up. You also pay extra to ship it overseas.
@InterStore no still not getting what you are on about, so shall we just leave it that, im way to confused now and its very late!!
Nobody care pa other than united states postal service
Let us see what will happen
I haven't seen a "ships from" country now for a few days, the whole layout has changed
@CraftyCornishMaids Yes, it seems to be like that for a lot of people.
Just checked your Shop, first listing. Under Ships to (my zip code), it says "Ships from the United Kingdom." *(Desktop computer, Chrome).
But it's possible I could look another day and not see Locations at all.
I see
@CraftyCornishMaids I went back to your first listing. It's weird how we all view different things. This is what I get in detail (under Description):
- Shipping & return policies
- Estimated arrival March 27-Apr. 21
- Shipping Cost
- "Etsy offsets carbon emissions..."
- Returns & exchanges accepted (along with the window for this)
- Etsy Purchase Protection
- "Deliver to United States (my zip code)"
- Ships from United Kingdom
just checked another seller, who is not in UK, I still get
