I have been selling handcrafted fused glass jewelry that I make myself since 2012, and I am a star seller. In no way does my jewelry violate their policy.
Today, I listed a pair of earrings that were immediately removed by Etsy, and a message popped up about them violating their policy! The earrings were called, "Tiny Dark Copper Orange Dichroic Fused Glass Dangles." I thought that was the best way to describe the color of the glass. Just to see what would happen, I listed it again, and the only thing I changed was "Copper" to "Amber" and changed the order of the words. It is now called, "Tiny Dark Orange Amber Dichroic Fused Glass Dangles." This time, it didn't get removed!
SUGGESTION: If you list an item that clearly does NOT violate their policy, but it gets removed, just change the title!
First, listing it again without Etsy looking at it and approving it can get you in trouble. Second, "amber" is a serious no-no word on Etsy and will get most listings removed eventually. I would NOT use amber to describe any color. Copper should not be a word causing issues.......
Third, if you are selling earrings then "earrings" should be in your title
Actually, "Earrings" is in all my earring titles; I was mistaken when I didn't include that in my post.
After reviewing the listing, Etsy relisted it and sent me a letter. I will remove the word "amber" from my title and tags.
Ha, it's actually kinda funny that the 'no-no' word amber worked when the other title didn't.
Normally the use of amber will get your item removed, but usually just temporarily until it's been verified it's not a small amber bead (those are prohibited). I disagree with people that say to not use the word amber if that's the best describer of something. Just have a realistic expectation that it will likely be deactivated, reviewed, and then reactivated.
You are correct. That's exactly what happened, and I received a letter from Etsy.
