Every single time I wanted to edit my listings, the bulk editing tool always broke the links to photos for variations. Etsy knew this - I've told them repeatedly. I told them exactly how to repeat the process to see it break the links so they could see what was happening.
They fixed it.
Then it broke again.
They fixed it again.
Later, it broke again.
This has gone on for years and years. Repeatedly fixing it then breaking it.
Today I wanted to change the prices on some of my listings. This time, even editing the listings one by one - avoiding the bulk editing tool which again breaks the links - the links were broken for every listing I manually edited. So now I have to spend my day going through 9 pages of listings, putting the photo links back in.
Etsy, if you're reading this, please for the love of god, will you finally fix this issue completely!!
Chances are then it is a one off in your shop. If Etsy cannot replicate the problem then they feel there is no problem. There have been complaints over the years about the broken links but they happen to so few sellers that the need to fix is probably low on the list of things to do.
They can replicate it. I've told them how to. They've sorted it, then weeks or months later it's back broken again.
I am having the same issue. I noticed it before as well using the bulk editor so I have not bulk edited anything since. Yet photos are unlinked even for listings I have not touched in months.
This time however its only forgetting some of my photos, I have earring variations for hooks, hoops and clip-ons, and the hoop earring photos are still there but the other two are gone. On every single listing.
I speak to customer service and they tell me to clear my cache which obviously has no effect, something is breaking Etsy's end. I have never had this happen on eBay or Amazon.
I agree with you about not bothering any more. When I list items now I am making three separate listings for the variations.
Don't bother with all their suggestions. The problem is at THEIR end. If they want proof, I've got the email receipts. They know because they've previously fixed it.
Think every time they roll out updates, any fix in place gets overridden. I'm still going through listings weeks later. Had over a thousand to sort.
