Hello,

It's about a month and more that I opened my shop account, I made and paid everything that Etsy wanted and listing items for my shop. I added all business/government paper proofs that Etsy want (everything is correct and match) to verify but nothing happened until now.

Also I got the red warning sign:
"We were unable to verify the business information you entered.Please review your business name and any identification numbers closely, make any necessary changes, and re-submit it for verification. You’ll have two re-verification attempts, after which your account will be locked. If you continue to have trouble, please contact your local tax authority or applicable government entity, where the business is registered, for more assistance."

I am trying to re-submit all my business information but nothing is happening.

Also, I am trying to contact with Etsy support and every time I receive an auto-generic message from them and no help at all. Anyone knows how to fix this issue and how months it takes Etsy to verify a business shop account? What is happening and how can I start my shop to sell?

I checked your "business registration number" (from Seller Details) on VIES and it is not a valid VAT registration number. That could be your problem if you entered it in the VAT number field.

Some countries issue domestic only VAT numbers, which are not valid for EU cross-border selling.

Thanks a lot for your response. In Greece (where I and my business is from), the "business registration number" is not VAT id but GEMI. GEMI number, is the business registration number in Greece. This is what I have already filled. Also the VAT id is correct and valid. 

Also I checked the link you mentioned and I put my VAT id and it works fine. You insert the GEMI number and not VAT, that's why you may didn't see it as valid.

I have the same business numbers on my Shopify shop too and there is no issue about 4 years now. I can't understand why Etsy can't verify, even don't help me at all in the support section.

for Greece,

you have to add an EU VAT number, in the legal and tax - "primary taxpayer ID" that is only for VAT numbers

or

a CPR number in the "additional taxpayer ID"

Hello, I have already added my EU Vat ID in taxpayer ID as I mentioned. Everything is correct.

you said you entered your GEMI number, but there is nowhere on etsy for you to enter that,

Etsy only has a field for your EU VAT ID , or your CPR number

when I look at your legal imprint, you have entered your EU VAT ID as 155848803000

and that is NOT correct, 

Greece vat numbers are EL, followed by 9 numbers so 

EL123456789,

not 155848803000

As I mentioned (and as I know from other Greek businesses on Etsy), in the field of "business registration number" on Etsy, we have to enter the GEMI number (we have in Greece). In the field of taxpayer ID, is the place that you have to enter EU VAT ID as you mentioned and I already have it correct. 

I can't understand why my Shopify shop account works fine 4 years now and on Etsy not.

in sellers details, it says

that should be showing your VAT number EL154486679

so I think you have the numbers in the wrong place

I can understand what you say but in Greece, the business tax system and official numbers, are kinda different.

If you check any Greek business (not sole) in Etsy, on their Sellers Details you will see the GEMI number on " Business Registration Number" and not VAT ID. This is because in Greece GEMI number is the official Government business registration number.

yours just says

155848803000

so, you have not done what other Greece businesses have

Could you send me few examples? Because if you have a business account, in Sellers Details you have only Business Registration Number and business address. Few examples of Greek business accounts, in the screenshots below:

Beside this, in the "Legal and tax information" section, the place you have to enter VAT ID is the taxpayer ID which I already have it right. Business Registration Number as I mentioned is the GEMI number. Where do you think that I have it wrong?

I have the same issue and would be really interested to learn how you resolved your issue? It is really frustrating not being able to start selling and with the Etsy support not being supportive at all..

I live in New York and am getting the same message. I don't know what they mean by "Business Registration Number". I tried putting in my Department of State ID number. That didn't work.
