Labor Day/Fourth of July

Jump to solution

I just happened to see that we didn't qualify for Star Seller in Shipping for October because of LABOR DAY?  How in God's name is it right to be punished for a holiday...when UPS and USPS didn't run?  I'm livid about this.  This should automatically be in the algorithm for Holidays that fall on Mondays.  If I'm not mistaken, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day didn't ding us last year!  This is as simple as it gets.  Out of the 948 eligible orders...73 shipped late, all of which were shown to ship on Fourth of July, and Labor Day!?  Tell me how any of this makes good sense?  Since they started this Star Seller thing, we have shipped out 100% of the time except for this holiday bs.

We almost always ship out the same day the order is made, and if not ...then it ships out the following business day. Our processing time is shown as one day.  HOW IS IT, that the system is smart enough to know when there are weekends and not to count those....  But HOLIDAYS (where shippers are closed) somehow is left out?

I saw a solution posted by another seller was to lengthen out the processing time over holiday weekends. You know what, that may work for someone who ships out 3 orders a day....but today we shipped out over 150 orders...and it will be like that the rest of the week.  HOW IS IT the accepted answer is to make us add one more thing to do in our daily running a business, instead of this being an easy coding fix on Etsy's end?

This blows my mind..... and my blood pressure.

Labor Day is a US holiday. It is not celebrated in all countries and it may be on different days in the countries that do. So Etsy expects you to keep track of the holidays in your country. If it is due on a holiday and there is no mail that day, if you haven't shipped before the holiday, you should Update the Ship By date so it isn't due until after the holiday.

Etsy is an international site and doesn't account for any postal holidays in countries.   You'll need to manage your order shipping dates to make sure to either ship early or notify the buyer/move the ship date to the next non-federal holiday.

At the beginning of the year, I go through and add a calendar reminder the week before - that way I can keep track and make sure to clean everything up that will interfere.   The wacky Monday holidays always get me - speaking of which, Columbus day is on it's way, everyone!

it's been like this since 2011.  shouldn't be a surprise.  make your shipping 2 days.  all fixed.  you can still ship in one day.

It would be next to impossible for etsy to account for Every, Single. Holiday in every single country.
As for as I know Etsy has never ever accounted for holidays.

Surely, you've noticed this or had this happen before since you've been here 11 years and have a LOT of sales.

It's up to sellers to either put a longer processing time or move up the ship by date.

The simplest thing to do since you're using just a 1 day processing time, is to put 1-3 day processing, easy peasy.

Better mark your calendar for the next 2 holidays coming up, Columbus Day on Monday, Oct 10th and then Veteran's Day on Friday, Nov. 11th.
