LOSE MY BADGE ''STAR SELLER''

Jump to solution

THE SYSTEM BY MISTAKE CONFIRMED BY CUSTOMER SERVICE REMOVED MY STAR SELLER BADGE DUE TO A CALCULATION ERROR. I MADE OVER 1000 DOLLARS IN SALES. AN OPERATOR TOLD ME TO CHANGE THE CURRENCY INTO DOLLARS IN ORDER TO HAVE THE "MAKE AN OFFER" BUTTON. - FROM THAT MOMENT MY SALES CALCULATION READ 61 DOLLARS, BUT I SOLD FOR OVER 1000 DOLLARS. THIS SYSTEM ERROR MUST BE FIXED URGENTLY AND MY "STAR SELLER" BADGE MUST BE RESTORED. (WHAT DOES IT MATTER WHAT CURRENCY CUSTOMERS PAY IN, IF I HAVE OVER 1000 DOLLARS IN SALES AND ALL OTHER PARAMETERS PERFECT, I MUST GET MY BANNER BACK). IT'S MY RIGHT! I WORKED TO HAVE THIS PERFORMANCE, IT IS NOT CORRECT TO LOSE IT DUE TO A SYSTEM ERROR!!!

It can't report overall sales figures with 2 currencies.  So you switched from the currency with the highest sales to the lowest sales and that one was used to calculate Star Seller.

What happens if you change it back?

You have your shop listed as in the U.S., when in fact you are from Italy so that probably skews the money amount. Plus, Etsy usually does not change anything on the star seller.

That happened because you changed your currency

"AN OPERATOR TOLD ME TO CHANGE THE CURRENCY INTO DOLLARS"

The whole Star Seller thing is completely reset to zero the second you do this.

You have to start all over again.

More bad advice from Etsy "Help".

When you change your currency you should do it at the very start of the new month as the system is not set up to recalculate for exchange rates.  There is nothing you can do for this month, but your stats going forward should reflect the new currency.  It is usually better to have your shop in your own currency, otherwise you may end up paying more in conversion when withdrawing funds.  Having your shop settings say you are in one country when you really are in another does not instill confidence in buyers.  Also, if a US buyer purchased and the package actually came from Italy, they might claim not as described and possibly get a refund without having to return the item.  Honesty is the best policy.

this has never happened because my staff works even when I am traveling around the world. I live between Italy and the USA, so both currencies are fine. But now that I have the currency in dollars AS CUSTOMER SERVICE ADVISED ME, the "make an offer" button has also disappeared...!
all my reviews are 5 stars and all my customers are satisfied!

@AmiraMagia: Unfortunately it is probably not clearly disclosed anywhere, but changing currency always resets sales totals for Star Seller to zero. Depending on how long ago you did this, it has been reported that sometimes changing the currency back to its original will restore the sales numbers. But even if that works, it will probably not update things retroactively because when it calculated on September 1st you did not qualify and the calculations will not be run again until October 1st.

Etsy has made it clear that they will not manually adjust Star Seller stats or manually award Star Seller badges and star. If you are able to get them to change their policy, please let us know. However just posting in this forum will not do anything - even if Etsy Support or the Help Pages sent you here this is a seller peer to peer forum, and should not be considered a way to contact Etsy, if that is your hope (although Etsy does sometimes read and reply to posts).

And screaming at your fellow sellers in the forum (by typing in all capitals) will not fix anything.
