Hi Etsy Community,
My listing was recently deactivated, and I believe it was done by mistake. I create these items myself by hand, and they are 100% handmade – no dropshipping or third-party sourcing involved.
Could anyone from Etsy help me get this listing reactivated? I’m more than happy to provide photos of my process and any additional info to prove it’s a genuine handmade item.
I've seen multiple articles from the ETSY ceo that state
"Etsy CEO Josh Silverman has stated that sellers can appeal listing deactivations, particularly those related to intellectual property or policy violations. He acknowledged that the process can be challenging and that some sellers have faced difficulty in getting their appeals processed, but emphasized the ability to appeal as a means of addressing potential errors in automated takedowns. "
Looking forward to your guidance and support – I appreciate any help in resolving this quickly!
Thanks so much, PLEASE if anyone has dealt with this what do you do , i have been offered no support.
Etsy rarely posts in these forums and won't help you.
If you want to contact Etsy you need to go through the HELP pages.
More than likely your items were found for sale on other websites so Etsy thinks you're reselling and not actually making the items.
If this is the case you'd need to file DMCA notices on the items.
Why Was My Listing Removed by Etsy? – Etsy Help
We're other sellers here on the forums and are not able to activate a listing Etsy deactivated.
Do a reverse image search and see if your photos have been stolen and are being used to sell the item on other sites. If you find your images, file DMCA reports to have the listings taken down by those sites. Then ... I think it takes about 2 weeks ... you can request to have your listing(s) reactivated.
If it's not a case of stolen images, appeal right away - but it has to be through Etsy Help.
I just looked at your vial jewelry. The listing mentions blood, cremation ashes, etc. Although you may not be including these items in the vials, bots may be triggering those words in the description.
Which policy did they deactivate it under? That helps you decide your approach.
I see an item in your reviews that is no longer available, and it is using a photo of Hellraiser. That's intellectual property infringement and potentially counterfeit as well.
I've seen a few other takedowns of jewellery urns lately - is anyone else using that exact pendant? Etsy expects handmade items to be unique, if they are using commercially-available components. If you are making that yourself, you should show your metal work skills on your About page. If it is your design made by a production partner, you need to declare that in your shop.
I did a thorough reverse image search of that pendant photo, and did not find it anywhere, so it is unlikely to be the photo being used elsewhere (but you never know).
Forgot to add to the above - 2 of the reverse search engines identified the pendant as a syringe. That with the mentions of blood that others wrote about could get an item taken down for sure.
@cindylouwho2 not to mention, that a lot of those items are on sale on known dropshipping platforms.
@DragonFireGlass I only looked at the one that was removed, as the other items would not affect that removal.
In addition to using the words blood and ashes which could've raised a flag, was the deactivated item a bullet shaped pendant?
But as already mentioned, your photo may have been stolen. Be aware that your heart vial necklace photo can be found on a number of sites, including Amazon. Those hearts have the same highlights and shadows and the same chain and dropper. Some of the main photos include the dropper, some don't. The sellers on Amazon are in different countries, but mostly from one country in particular. Some of the photos include the dropper, some don't.
It might be that Etsy doubts that you are actually handmaking the items you claim are handmade by you. They might think that
you are reselling.
Did you actually carve that jade bangle? Maybe show how you make them in a short video?
Strange that the jade bracelet has vintage in the title, yet 'made by' the OP.
@vialsco Did you make a similar mistake when creating the now deactivated listing?
Reading the desc for the jade bangle, you make several med/metaphysical claims. Did the deactivated listing also make prohibited claims? That could be another reason for removal. Be aware that, because of those claims, the bangle might be the next one to go.
Yeah, I would love to see how the OP is making the glass pendants, that in description says, made by skilled artisans, but in fact are on sale for $0.50 on well known Chinese websites. First time I seen them was at least a year ago.
Esty might consider 'assembled by' a more accurate description ... looks like vials, chains, bails are used to create your pendants.
Well your eye mask is easily available on Amazon under a different name with the same pictures. Maybe that's why?
This listing says it's no longer available
Vial Pendant Necklace, fillable locket, Ashes, vial, urn, Couples necklace, lock and key birtstone, vial of blood
you can't sell vials of blood on etsy, or many other places either, especially not handmade vials of blood
@vialsco — If you have “handmade” something that closely resembles the item that was designed &/or created by the original artist, then that would be considered infringing. Example … anything made that remotely resembles Mickey Mouse ears is instantly considered IP infringement! Once caught, Etsy will deactivate the listing &/or permanently close your shop, but worse things can happen, including a multi-million dollar lawsuit from the original creator where you can lose everything and more! Only you can decide if it’s worth it or not!
This is one of those - I came - I saw - I have no comment.
It's nice that you bumped it for today. I'm sure that's appreciated.
