I just found some listings in inactive which were supposed to have autorenewed, which is concerning on its own but when I renewed them, they are now set to autorenew again on the 20th of July this year? Has anyone seen this before? I hope it is a glitch because else this could become expensive and I am not looking forward to a battle with Etsy support over (a lot of) pennies...
Yes, it happened to me a couple of days ago. Renewed a listing and the renewal date was in just under 3 months time. I have new listings to add but I've decided not to bother until things on the site are in full working order (which may be never!) and added them onto my website instead. Sick of nothing being fixed around here.
I sell vintage items so unfortunately that does not work for me, I add listings daily. I just checked the listings I added today and they are fine so it really appears to be a glitch...
The listing renewal system has been dodgy for a few months.
Not the same problem, but could be related: in our shop I am seeing active listings that are displaying that they were due to renew as far back as 28th March (last renewed 28th November 2023). In all 8 out of 55 active listings are past their due renewal date, but still active.
It looks suspiciously like Etsy have lost control of their core systems. They are probably too busy playing with AI and testing "improvements" to maintain & fix their basic systems.

@swatchoclock - Others have mentioned renewing inactive &/or sold out items and the expiration date was not correct. Though I think many were blaming the new listing form - what's one more glitch?
But it is odd that you had listings set to auto-renew and they didn't. Is July 20th the date they would have expired if auto-renew had worked?
Yes, the thoughts of having to contact support over inaccurate listing expiration dates is frustrating to say the least.
I have a different issue with auto renewal, I put my listings on manual because I sell greeting cards and some are seasonal/holiday. The system keeps switching to auto renewal so I have to keep checking to make sure it's set to manual.
Did you check the actual listing to see what date it will expire or are you going by the date the listing FORM said it was going to expire? I had a renew sold that the form said would expire May 24, 2024 when it was already June 2nd, but when the system finally let me renew the renewal date on the actual listing was correct.
