Hello Friends,
I am writing because I am frustrated, and someone out there might have a clue as to what might be happening.
**I tried all weekend (I'm in Virginia, USA) to list new inventory because I have decided to enlarge my shop considerably.**
Whenever I tried to list throughout the weekend, a burgundy red banner with an unhappy face emoji popped up, stating, "Hm, we're having trouble saving your changes. Try again, and if this keeps happening, contact Etsy support." This has happened recently as well, only about a week ago.
Two days ago, I then thought to Google, "Is Etsy down?" after repeatedly trying and with a few hours between attempts, all while getting the same banner. The answer comes up on the Etsy site in what I think appears odd because Etsy has a wild-looking illustration with some red-headed guy on fire. Next to this fiery guy there are words that say, "Don't worry, Haim's working on it!" Then, it states, "What's happening: A hardware failure brought some of our image hosting servers offline, so listing and re-listing items is currently disabled. Estimated downtime: until 5:00 AM EDT."
Below that, it reads, "Etsy's down but our news site The Storque is still up, and you can have a look at wiki too."
So, my first thought is, who is Haim, and why is he on fire?
I shrug. So, I say to Etsy Corporate Office: Please, when is the listing part of your site actually coming up again? There's no date such as 5 a.m. on such-and-such day and year attached to this warning stating that the site is somehow down.
When I clique on The Storque link provided below the burning guy, it states, "Uh oh, the page you were looking for was not found." This is on the Etsy site.
When I click on "wiki," I get a stern warning stating that this is possibly a malware-infested site and not legitimate.
So, I waited until after 5 a.m. for two days. Each day, I continued to get the banner but could not list it.
Finally, I contacted Etsy support this morning, June 3, and after a very long messaging exchange, I was told that my tech support ticket was being sent to Tech Support because they "needed to know the extensive range of this outage."
At nearly noon today, June 3, 2024, I still cannot list my new inventory.
I wonder if I'm doing the right thing by adding so many new pieces to my inventory in my shop here on Etsy. I continue to worry that I'm spending too much time on Etsy and should, like so many other vintage sellers especially, jump ship and find another venue on which to build my shop!
Sadly, Haim's been on fire for days now. Maybe even weeks? Poor guy.
Can anyone help, please?
Advice?
Thoughts?
Supportive comments to keep me from going mad?
Thanks so much!

Use the old listing form while you still can. See top of the page, blue banner, click on old form.
The new listing form seems to be having a lot of glitches now.
Hello! I have been using the new form because I had problems with the old form in the past! I will try your suggestion nevertheless, thank you!
Use the old form while you can. But do learn how to work with the new form. There may be steps you are missing with the new format.
Are you using the browser or app? I use Edge browser and have no issues with the new format. Also check to make sure your browser and OS is up to date.
I have been using the new form since shortly after it was introduced. The problems I'm having are indeed with the new form. I am using Chrome and on my computer because I don't like the iPhone app since it is filled with bugs. Everything is up to date. Thank you!
I've been using the new form exclusively for several months on desktop/Chrome/updated. No problems until these glitches in the past couple of weeks.
Old form still works for listing, thankfully.
From what I see in the Forums Julia, others are having the same difficulty as you, and I'm sorry for that. When you can't list, you can't sell. I don't understand Haim, but maybe someone should light a fire under his @$$. Also, you would think an Announcement perhaps, would be warranted.
Hello! I am so in agreement with you. I am also very glad that you mentioned that you are having the same issues!! Thank you! Geesh. Who in the heck is Haim anyway? I would guess a tech engineer. Ah, do Google the words "Etsy down?" and have a look at their illustration. According to their very tacky illustration, the guy apparently did have a fire under his @$$ for some time because he looks like he has fully set himself on fire...he is actually engulfed in fire in the illustration. I must be a snob because I think this is quite tasteless and in light of recent stories in the news, I find that creating an illustration that looks like self-immolation is inappropriate and surprising to see from Etsy. Maybe their mgmt thinks it is amusing but I don't see it that way, frankly. Ah well. Yes. An announcement would be so professional! I write a newsletter on Substack and in direct comparison, Substack sends out announcements to update all writers about glitches and down time. Substack keeps us all aware of statuses whenever any issue appears. It is so great but in contrast, Etsy just seems to not care about their sellers. Sad situation...and why Etsy is having issues, I would guess. Etsy is not behaving like a strong, well-organized company to be sure of that!
@TheGildedGriffin Hi, I can't say I'm having the same issues; I've not used the New Listing Form. Last Fall, I switched to the Old Listing Form every single time. But I've seen enough detailed posts from others to know what's going on. And at this late date (before the deadline), it's unacceptable.
Also, I agree; the whole Haim thing seems weird (I've not seen it personally).
Ah...Haim is one of Etsy's founders. Excuse my ignorance. He is Director of Engineering. Sigh.
I am having no issues - I work on a pc. I wonder if those working from phone are having a harder time?
Hello! I work on a Mac computer. I never use the app/phone because it is a big mess with so many glitches. I often have to reload the app because it fails to update if I have a sale or question, etc. Sigh!
Hello Friends, I have answered each of your responses. Thank you so much! Hopefully, someone from Etsy's Corporate Office might update us here so keep responding please and maybe someone will get their attention! Thank you thank you!
I can’t move my photos around with the new listing form all of a sudden. I wasn’t having any problems before. I’m on my laptop and my wireless mouse is out. Is that the problem?
Hello! That's difficult to tell. Depends on how your wireless mouse is configured with your laptop.
@BeachPleaseCreations - While it's definitely more of a pita can you move the photos using your laptop's built-in mouse pad?
Check the batteries in the wireless mouse. If the voltage down that might be the problem? If you need to replace them you might need to resync the mouse & the laptop.
could try a new browser?
Chrome has been said the go-to browser for Etsy work. Safari doesn't work either.
@JMOldeVintage Yes using the mouse pad on the computer and still not working. I’ll try again today. Thank you.
Having the same issue on a Mac.
Great!!! Thank you for adding a post here. Hopefully, Etsy will be kind enough to respond somehow!
Okay. So for update. I ***did*** try the Old Form and also tried the new form this afternoon. The old form wouldn't allow me to list at all. So! I think Haim truly is engulfed with fire...geesh. I cannot list whatsoever...just what it says online. It would SURE be nice if I had some kind of update from the Corporate Office. I was told they would email me...mmmmm, do I really think this will happen? Doubtful, me thinks!
And again, yes, I am completely Mac-based here and using Chrome on my computer.
Ah yes, so Haim is in the hot seat as his rather not-so-funny emoji shows...as one of the founders of this company.... However, this trouble has gone on for days now and also happened recently in the past as well. Could we at least have an estimate of what day of the month at 5 a.m. that this fix will be put into place, Etsy? Sorry if I sound frustrated. I so badly want to get to work here!
"Next to this fiery guy there are words that say, "Don't worry, Haim's working on it!" Then, it states, "What's happening: A hardware failure brought some of our image hosting servers offline, so listing and re-listing items is currently disabled. Estimated downtime: until 5:00 AM EDT."" - wow, that and the Storque reference are real throwbacks! There is no way that page should still be active, and the Storque became Etsy's blog many years ago.
