I'm a Spanish seller but my shop's default language is English. For the past two months approx. I've been experiencing an issue with the language of my items. Even though I create them in English, I list them, and they show in Spanish. ... and the English description disappears by the way.
The problem with this is that all customers are seeing listings in Spanish only.
I've contacted support a couple of times and they don't seem to have a clue. Is there anyone having this same issue?
Thanks!
Charo
Well, it properly set, the shop is set with English as default language
Etsy translates listing text into the language of the buyer. Each buyer has settings on their Etsy account for country/location, language and currency. This 'buyer' setting is separate to your shop settings. Therefore you have no control over the language that is shown to the buyer. This is why it is best to list items in your own language (or choose one language only) and let Etsy do the translations for you.
That's what I thought but it doesn't seem to be like this. While chatting with the help agent, she was not in Spain and she saw my listings in Spanish, not in English which was her default language. So this means that everyone must be seeing it in Spanish. The support people don't have a clue. I have called 3 times in the last month about this and their solution is for me to clear the cookies on my pc.
Dear Charo/ aseismanos,
I have had the same problem for a few months.
I have my shop in German and have set it to display in English for English-speaking customers. Now, however, the products are also displayed in english for a German customer. Even in my settings, some products are suddenly in English, although I have entered them in German myself.
I have already contacted Etsy but no one understands the problem. I've explained the problem to them for the fifth time now, but they don't understand.
Have you found a solution yet?
Kind regards Michaela
