Item page layout could use some improving!
Hi, I'm new to selling on Etsy, and I'm really surprised at the layout of the item page. Why is the description given a tiny sliver on the right column, when there's so much empty, open space on the left set aside for reviews? I feel like it'd be much better to have the item description at the top of the left column (where reviews go) and then put reviews under the description.
Making customers have to hunt for the description makes it a lot harder for people to see what they're getting, especially with how far removed the description is from the photos.
(Also why is there no community section for providing feedback to Etsy itself? It seems rather difficult to actually provide this sort of feedback to Etsy, which is weird given that it's supposed to be a platform for empowering small creators!)

Re: Item page layout could use some improving!
Placement of listing descriptions is a hot topic among sellers. I don't think there will ever be agreement on this, and when Etsy tests new placement, it generates a lot of frustration. I don't know what the ideal placement is, but I'm on the side of those who favor consistency. Big changes make for big headaches!

Etsy does what they like with listings. They are constantly rearranging and trying new things. Etsy does what Etsy wants wit the design. WE have no say in it.
BTW you will want to add tags to your listings. Etsy still uses tags for search purposes.
Oh is the plant included? If not it would be best to show an empty planter as the first photo as this is what the buyer will receive. Otherwise they might think the plant is included. And just a little reminder, when shipping to the EU/UK shop compliant policies are needed. GDPR and right of withdrawal.

Thanks for the advice. When I was selling my planters at a local art show nobody had the imagination to see how the planter would look with a plant in it, so I thought “staging” it would be helpful (and anyway it shows you the exact pot when you select the one to adopt). But I’ll be sure to add some tags.

Oh honey! That description has been all round the page and back again over the years, fully visible, truncated, a tiny button to click to view it, top, bottom, over to the left, over to the right. It changes at least once a year these days, and depends on what type of device you’re viewing it on.
Proof has shown anyway (even when it was the main thing on the page), that buyers don’t bother reading it anyway!
