Item not marked as shipped.

For some reason, Etsy did not acknowledge that I had shipped out a package. I only found out when I checked my orders page today and saw that the order, that I had shipped out on the 2nd, was marked as "past due"    Tracking very clearly shows that it was mailed out, as it's already been scanned at the export center.    I have never been late to ship a package and I'm both frustrated that Etsy's system did not inform the customer of the shipment, and worried that I'm going to be penalized for it, even when the tracking information very clearly shows I was not late in mailing. 

Anyone else running into this issue or have any advice? 

 

[also why is there no "label" for anything close to this issue.]

Did you use Etsy labels?  Etsy labels automatically adds tracking and completes the order?

Did you use another service or click n ship?  Unless the other is Pirateship, you need to mark the order complete and add tracking.

Was the item accepted initially at the post office?

If it was an Etsy label and accepted, I would contact Etsy about it.

It was via Pirateship, which is what I have been using for years now.  All the other orders that I sent out in that same back were updated perfectly fine as normal. 

They were dropped off a post box (which has been my normal the past 5 months as we had a long period of no mail carrier on our route.)    The package in question was scanned at the export center the day after I had marked it would be shipped by.   

The only difference I can think of why that one wasn't marked was because it was international, the rest were in US. But again, this is something that has never happened before. 

(also I have no idea where to actually contact someone at Etsy.  Their support services are more elusive than snow in the Sahara.)

@KineticColorFoundry: Unfortunately Etsy will probably feel that it is your responsibility to make sure that the tracking information is correct, regardless of whether you use Etsy labels, PirateShip, or the post office counter. It is also probably too late to update the shipping information (see "How to edit the tracking number on an order" on https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015774228-How-to-Add-Tracking-and-Complete-an-Order-?segm...).

It has nothing to do with tracking being correct or not.  The item was shipped and should have been marked as shipped via the API like all other orders have been up until this point, and that the others in the shipment were.

@KineticColorFoundry: I may have expressed myself badly. Does the actual order show the correct shipper, ship date, and tracking number? As far as Etsy is concerned the data on the order is all that matters.

 

If yes, and the package has been scanned, then definitely try to get Etsy to update the data on their end and the Star Seller stats will auto update.

 

If not I suspect that Etsy will say "too bad" - an API integration failure to them is no different than if you manually typed in an invalid tracking number.

 

Even before Star Seller we got in the habit of checking the previous day's shipments to make sure that they were showing as in transit so we could fix problems right away.

You can mark it complete and add the tracking now. Not sure why it didn't transfer. It will probably be marked as shipped today though. You could complain to Etsy but I  doubt they will fix it as their usual reply is that they don't change SS data.
