Hi!
Someone just wrote to me through Etsy and said that Etsy is asking for sellers email in order to complete an order.
'Good afternооn, I am intеrested in yоur product. I want to buy it as a gift for my friend, but etsy for some reason asks me to enter your е-mаil address. Can I get it to place an order? Thаnk yоu!'
She also included a screen shot of the Etsy message.
I have never heard of anyone having to use my/sellers email to complete an order...
So, can i assume this is not a real customer or how would you go about this?
Thank you!

Re: Is this some kind of spam trick?
It is a scam. Do not click on any links or respond. Etsy does not ask for e-mails. This particular scam has been very popular lately. There have been several threads about it. Glad you asked first!

Re: Is this some kind of spam trick?
@MAYBELLBAREKET - This was my first ever contact on Etsy as well, where I got all exited about having my first sale. But because I was unfamiliar with how Etsy worked, I wasn't sure if it was legitimate or not (so for a while I was going along with it).
Then I saw the phishing email appear in my junk folder. So yeah, definitely just ignore and mark it as spam on the Etsy messages so it doesn't count toward your response rate.
