Hello,
I have sent what I thought was a help request and have since provided an email and a bank account number.
They have now sent a link to sign in to etsy through my email account to access a lost etsy account (why I messaged) and I'm just not sure it is really Etsy. I have read that messages from etsy appear in the from etsy section, and I have none there. I was wondering if maybe help request replies are different and don't go to the inbox? That's my only hope. I was also wondering, if it's not legit, can they do anything with my bank number and email?
For example, I got a reply from helpdesk (support@etsy.zendesk.com) to my email and at a url starting with https://help.etsy.com/ under 'My Support Requests' tab. But the replies are not in the From Etsy section.
I'm so upset, I'm not sure what to think.
If you're referring to support ticket number 1549***, you can find all of its details, as well as a complete transcription of your conversation with our support member on our Help Center at help.etsy.com.
Your "From Etsy" section under the Messages section of your profile/shop is not used for support requests, so this is why this conversation does not show up there.
Otherwise, you're communicating with a legitimate support channel - in fact, Michelle just replied to your email with further instructions.
I hope this helps! We'll be closing this thread now, lest it goes off-topic.
Oh no. I feel like such an idiot.
I somehow came across them through sending an etsy help request - how could this be?
They asked for all kind of information - like my address, bank number, town, email etc - are they able to steal my identity/money with this info?

It may not be a scammer.
Are they emails or etsy messages? Help request replies go to your email not to etsy messages. They won't be in the 'from etsy' folder in etsy messages. If they are showing in 'my help requests' section they are from etsy support. Its not uncommon for the real etsy support to ask for info to help verify its really you.
@FabioMcMustache beat me to it. Thank you for verifying.
