There have been many times when I've responded quickly to a new message from a potential buyer, and the "send a speedy reply" banner doesn't go away. In fact, I have a current conversation where we've both posted responses and the app keeps encouraging me to respond quickly to the same conversation. My speedy reply stat seems way lower than it should be. This has been happening randomly for about a month now, but increasing to approx 1 in 3 messages affected and I find I sometimes have to send multiple messages to get it to count. I think it's broken.
Definitely broken. I’ve had a conversation today with TWENTY back and forth in the same thread and new message alert has come up three times already.
@Mimigrams: Based on the numerous threads about this (and personal experience), the new message banner not going away appears to be only a user interface glitch which is not affecting any stats such as Star Seller.
There have, however, been reports about other Message issues that are impacting a shop negatively.
"My speedy reply stat seems way lower than it should be." The applicable CSV file available on your Star Seller page will tell you which new Message threads Etsy thinks were unanswered or answered late? When you look at the file remember that that the dates / times are in UTC (not your time zone), only the first message of a new incoming thread is included (all that counts for Star Seller), and usually a new incoming thread is not included until after the 24 hour reply window has passed regardless of when you replied. Star Seller stats (and the CSV file) seem to be updated only once per day so there may be an additional day's delay. There is also a link to the actual message thread so you can verify if the data is correct or not.
