Involuntary Forced Vacation Mode

Jump to solution

Today Etsy placed my shop on Vacation Mode. I never got an email explaining why my shop was on forced vacation mode. Instead I  received an email saying that my information was verified and the pause on my store was lifted. MY STORE IS STILL ON VACATION MODE. They lock up my livihood and do not afford me a method of communicating with a human immediately.  This is why I no longer send my followers to Etsy  AND why I have a Shopify store instead and will be building my own ecommerce store where I have full control of my business and my money.

I've been on Etsy for over 10 years. Placing my store on vacation mode because you need to verify information is beyond ridiculous, a terrible business practice and NOT necessary.

Etsy has yet to explain why they must "vacation" a shop in order to verify (Inform Act).

Absolutely inane business practice. Notified to verify and update my information in the next 7 days or the shop would be closed. Verified information and uploaded new driver's license three days later. ETSY response was to close shop until they could verify my DL, even though I had four days left until their deadline.

They removed my chat connection and told me communication would be by e-mail when I asked when the shop would be put back online. Finally, received an email saying everything was good and the shop was back on line. Categorically false, my shop remains on "vacation". I have no means to correct the problem because ETSY won't communicate with me in a timely manner if at all. There is simply no one at home for ETSY. No phone number, no live agent (chat function removed), and no timely response to e-mail requests. Six years and they shut us down because we complied with a request to update and verify information ahead of their deadline. I've lost a whole weekend and don't know how many more days because of this. ETSY's compliance officer and staff are covering big ETSY compliance requirements I am sure, but they are poking the shop owners in the eye with out regard to common sense.

I read about this sort of thing every year. Someone needs to review the power invested in the Compliance Officer and staff - they can't handle it.
