Invalid Nonce

I was attempting to add photos to a listing and got the error code “Invalid Nonce”. Anyone know if this is a glitch or other technical issue?

Re: Invalid Nonce

I have no idea what this even means: "nonce"? Maybe someone techie will see this and respond.  Will keep following so I understand this! Sorry I am no help!

Re: Invalid Nonce

In the UK it is slang for a paedophile

No idea what it means in this instance

@Marmalady

Thanks! Learned something new today.

Surely with Etsy that is not the meaning. If it is a glitch it certainly is a strange one!

Re: Invalid Nonce

"Nonce" is short for "number used once" and it is a sort of checksum.

So it is basically saying that the page has expired, or timed out.

Refreshing the page, or leaving to a different page then coming back will hopefully reset it so you can try again.

As @Marmalady says, it also means a paedophile in the UK, so I am sure a lot of people are a bit surprised the first time they see one of these errors.

Re: Invalid Nonce

@PrairieSilverSupplys: This is one of those error messages intended for the developer not the end user (you). Essentially poor error trapping on the art of whoever coded the part that threw the error. As mentioned, often a hard page refresh (CTRL><F5> or <CTRL><R>) will resolve it.

Re: Invalid Nonce

I've never met a nonce that wasn't invalid, lol.

Sorry, nonce is a word used here in Australia for a foolish person, usually not as an insult, just as light hearted fun, and often by someone referring to themselves.  Eg "oh, I am such a nonce."  I have no idea what it means in a website setting.

Re: Invalid Nonce

I have had some trouble deleting and adding photos.  I just closed the listing and went back in again and it worked
