Hi everyone
I’m in the process of creating my first digital download listing, (for my own artwork) and have encountered a problem. I read that 20MB is the file size limit. My JPG file size is only 4.7MB, but when I upload it, Etsy reduces it to 1.6MB! I’ve been searching for why this is happening and how to fix this, but can’t find anyone else with this issue. My files need to stay uncompressed so customers can choose to print them in large sizes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You're definitely uploading the file in the "Digital files" section, not in the "Photos" (the images that are displayed to people on your listing before purchase) section?
When I upload JPGs the file size shown in the listing is the same as on my computer - sometimes the numbers are rounded but if I download from the edit listing screen then the file size matches exactly and it has not been compressed.
I haven't uploaded any digital listings recently so if you are seeing the issue with items uploaded to the "Digital files" section then there could be a bug going on.
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I’m definitely trying to upload them in the correct way, not to the listing photos.
You should compress digital files into Zip file before you upload to avoid any reduction the quality
Thank you. I will try to do that. I’ll have to find out how. I’m working with an iPad, so everything is a bit more complicated than on a proper PC.
