I've highlighted this ongoing issue , example...I sold something today to the US, went to purchase an ETSY postage label and it says already that it will be delivered late. This only started happening in approx October 2024.
Do I have to change my delivery settings?? they are currently set to 1-7 days processing time.
Please advise, thanks
You can just ignore it. Etsy seems to be giving them an estimate starting as if you are shipping on your first possible date (in your case, 1 day). You can increase this time, move it to 5-7 days instead. Doesn't mean you can't ship out sooner, but you will see this error more often. I have a processing of 3-5 days but normally ship on day 2. However, as soon as I don't and instead ship on day 3 or 4, I always get that warning. And then if there are delays along the route (like big storms or wildfires that may slow down progress) USPS will update the ETA once a label is purchased to reflect what they are aware of, which may make something 'late' according to the original estimates Etsy gave.
that's useful, thanks!
The estimates are way off. I sell an item, ship it on the same day, however, when I print the shipping label I always get the red warning - your package will be maybe late, your customer expects the package by xz date. I ship from Canada and the delivery to the US usually takes 8 days, sometimes 3 weeks, but somehow Etsy delivery estimate is 3-8 days. Never ever arrived any of my packages in 3 days in the US.
glad I'm not the only one! It really does seem to be a newish glitch. Never used to happen
I hate the "may arrive late" message. I ship same or next day. The customer is left expecting miracles with the mail, and then get annoyed when things don't arrive within their estimated time. Used to be able to get around it by using "other" in the shipping profiles, but this is no longer an option. Sellers shouldn't be held accountable for failures within the mail service to deliver within a set time limit and Etsy should be giving customers a realistic estimate to prevent bad feedback for something that is out of our control.
it's very frustrating
I've also been having this issue for a couple of months now, despite shipping same day in most cases. I've contacted Etsy support multiple times about it, where they requested screenshots of the issue which I provided.
They finally got back to me after a few weeks, assumed I was buying USPS labels (even though I'm purchasing Royal Mail postage labels) and have told me to personally contact USPS because apparently it's their fault for the inaccurate delivery estimates. (Yes, I know my orders are still processed through the USPS system in the USA, but still.)
Not exactly sure why Etsy think it's down to me to contact another business they work with to chase up Etsy's problems...
I've been having to manually change the date and contact each customer with a new date, it's annoying having to do the extra leg work as it never used to flag up red
