Regarding 40-minute phone call to Etsy regarding incorrect information on my Star Seller eligibility for Message Response.
Ticket number 16713980.
The message below keeping me from being eligible for Star Seller was from a PURCHASE I made not from a potential customer. Seller was LenokLinencom. Do not understand how or why was a part of my seller performance
This is my most current report in which the above message is included.
[This content has been removed by Moderation. We ask that you please review Section 1, Item 1 of our Community Policies before posting in the Forums.]
How do I get this removed from the above spreadsheet so I can qualify for my messages?
Thank you,

Hello!
We ask that you please refrain from sharing any sort of personal/sensitive information (yours or other people's - this includes, and is not limited to: Names, Addresses, Phone Numbers, Email Addresses, Tracking Numbers, Private Messages, etc.). This also includes any verbatim communication between you and your customers, as per Section 1, Item 1 of our Community Policies.
Please be mindful that this is a safety measure for you and everyone else potentially involved in the matter, which is why this is such an important aspect of our Community Policies.
Thank you!
@VintageOnceUponATime - It will not be removed from your current star seller stats. All new messages must be replied to. It doesn't make any difference if you are the seller or the buyer.
This from Etsy: https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403058372503-How-to-Become-a-Star-Seller?segment=selling
Direct copy and paste from the link provided to you above....
"How can I tell which messages count towards my progress towards Star Seller?
The Message response rate only applies to the first message in a thread. Initial messages from both buyers and sellers on Etsy are counted towards the Message response rate....."
This info is also on the star seller page in shop manager.
@VintageOnceUponATime: "Do not understand how or why was a part of my seller performance" Because Etsy says so. As it says right on your Star Seller page and elsewhere, you need to reply to (or mark as SPAM) the FIRST message of EVERY NEW INCOMING THREAD within 24 hours. It does not matter who sent it, the subject matter, if it is a duplicate or blank or anything else. It also specifically states that "messages both from buyer and seller accounts" will be included in Star Seller calculations.
Also, by forum rules you need to edit out the personal information you pasted into your original post https://www.etsy.com/legal/community#community

Thank you!
the star seller calculation is correct
you have to reply to each new message thread, or mark as spam
you didn't
the rules haven't changed since it started
it doesn't matter if you have bought from them or not
Thank you for the great information. I guess I must have missed the part about buyers vs seller response. I will make sure in the future that all messages are responded to within the appropriate time.
Thank you for the information regarding my request.
The reason why I used the forum was because when I spoke to an Etsy call center representative that is what they told me to do. Was told to post about technical issue and all the information. I have learned from this experience and will comply to Etsy rules in the future.
Etsy's call center is farmed out, and they refer people to the forum if they can't deal with an issue. Anything to do with Star Seller, they can't help you.
You generally get better advice here than you would from the call center.
@bradgoodell - Even the Etsy article - the link - I posted above includes this highlighted notice:
"Etsy Support can’t make changes to your Star Seller data or manually award Star Seller badges. If you think your Star Seller score was calculated incorrectly, you can let us know in the Technical Issues forum."
So the call center or chat rep is passing along info. that Etsy has posted in an article.
@VintageOnceUponATime I so appreciate that you admitted your mistake (since it's been this way since SS started) and will move forward - unlike many sellers who get caught in this and waste time blaming Etsy and insisting they bend the rules - just for them.
Good luck to you!
