Incorrect Etsy stats

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I'm currently struggling with the statistics from Etsy because the numbers just don't match. As I'm fairly new to Etsy, the numbers below are not that high...

Here a few examples:

  • Clicks from Etsy Ads: according to the detailed stats I had today 1 click from Etsy Ads - in the Ads stats it shows 2 clicks (and charges for them)
  • Clicks per day: On the general dashboard, it showed earlier today 7 clicks (for today). A couple of hours later, it dropped down to 6.
  • Orders coming from Ads: when looking at the "advertised" orders, it shows an item that wasn't sold yet.

Are you facing the same strange numbers? And which numbers do you trust at the end?

BTW: the numbers are the same on desktop and in the app.

Thanks,

Ingrid

I never trust etsy stats or pay attention to them.  According to the stats at any given time a person can purchase an item without even clicking on it or viewing it LOL.

I always laugh if an item has sold several times but the views are zero.

Seems like the stats are rediculous!

But how do you then measure the success of Etsy Ads (in case you're using them)?

@DataArtisan

the data for the ads should be correct.  It's just the general etsy stats page that is wonky.

Plus you can see which sales were from etsy ads because they have a little megaphone by the name. That is for the etsy ads that you choose to purchase.  The offsite ads you have to actually go to the data page for that to see it.

Numbers often go down because every few hours etsy strips out bot views.

I never pay attention to those stats either

Orders coming from Ads: when looking at the "advertised" orders, it shows an item that wasn't sold yet.

The item that was clicked on as a Ad is the one that gets an order attributed to it. It doesn't meant that's the item that was bought, only that the Ad for that item, resulted in an order being placed.
