I've seen a few people ask about this and none of them have gotten a good answer. WHY does the in-store search no longer work in my shop? It will randomly work for some items, other searches will bring one or two items when there are many more and some searches result in nothing coming up even though the word may be in the Subject line and in the tags. It's as if the tags are useless.
This is a big problem because leaving a link to other similar items within a listing has been helpful to customers, but even a search within the shop now gives them nothing. This will make shoppers go elsewhere and I've noticed a decline in sales because of it.
Not going to bother with Etsy Support.
I just tried it in your shop and it worked for me
Thanks for checking...on the surface it DOES look like it works, but like I said in the post, it doesn't work for everything. I just typed in 'Stanton' which should bring up at least three items and it only brings up one. It's selective and probably an algorithmic thing that represses certain listings. Ebay does it, Twitter does it, Google definitely does it and Facebook thrives on it..so I guess Etsy does it too.
It worked when I tried it in your shop. I typed Babar into your shop's search bar and 2 items came up.
Thanks for checking...it's algorithmic and selective.
I tried four searches in your shop - all worked fine.
Thanks for checking.
Seems to be working well in my shop.
I searched "vinyl" in your shop and got 7 items.
i just typed in stanton and only see 1 item.
i have no idea why that happens.
have you contacted etsy support?
Not going to bother with Etsy Support.
Listings that break the Terms of Use may be throttled, if not outright removed.
Pornography is banned for sale on Etsy, even if it adheres to Etsy's Mature Listings rules.

"Pornography of any sort is prohibited on Etsy, whereas mature content is restricted. Although pornography can be difficult to define, an item generally qualifies as pornography when it contains printed or visual material that explicitly describes or displays sex acts, sex organs, or other erotic behaviour for the purpose of sexual arousal or stimulation."
Some of your items fall into the pornography category.
i can safely say the Stanton items are not porn and two of them are not appearing in his search bar though.
i did not see porn in his shop but i did not look at 99% of his items.
the only other item i looked at was the little lost puppy... the childrens book... lol
FYI, items that glorify murder / violence are also banned.

And, some of your items are labeled as "Vintage" when they were printed in 2014??
The "Kiss" magazines can be construed as pornography. Even the description states that they are "titillating" with sexual imagery, stories and columns.
Note also that you can't search "Kiss" in the OP's search bar.
It is all subjective, but doesn't matter to me since my shop isn't a 'porn shop'.
The KISS magazines can be considered counter cultural historical documents featuring artists well known and represented in major art museums.
I'm able to search all kinds of kinky words in some overt adult shops. Doesn't look like the in-shop search suppresses adult themes or keywords. The maturity of items seems to have no bearing on whether they are searchable within the shop.
This is exactly the problem. There are shops that are overtly and exclusively selling porn (obviously Etsy doesn't care) and my more artsy and historically significant items don't show up. Maybe it will change when I'm not looking, but in the meantime, I changed my batter to address the issue. Thank you!
