I have supplied Etsy with all of my personal, business, and tax documentation for verification purposes including my EIN, Articles of Organization, Sales & Use Tax Certificate, Valid State Driver's License, and Social Security Number. Despite my account being suspended erroneously before I could open and with no way to sell, Etsy has charged me listing fees for each product.
I’ve verified all of my business information with the IRS and my state’s revenue service, so this issue is clearly with Etsy. All of my confidential information is locked in their system, and now I am at full risk in the event of a data breach. I have notified them countless times respectfully requesting that they please respond, take action, and verify my account, but to no avail. According to the Online Marketplaces’ Obligations under the United States Federal Trade Commission's INFORM Consumers Act, online market places have ten (10) days to verify our documentation, yet there are some sellers on here who have waited over 10 months!
I have read complaints on this board from countless sellers expressing their confusion, frustration, and disappointment with Etsy regarding this very issue, so I know I’m not alone here. This is a severe safety concern and is completely unacceptable for a company of this scale. At this point, I have no other choice but to report them to the FTC and my state. If you are experiencing this same issue, I’d advise that you do the same.
I see that this logo and name are in use by a professional photographer in Nashville. The website and social media for that name are pretty well established, including the online shop for buying prints. Your contact info says that you're in Atlanta. This may be why you're having trouble.
Correct. My business address differs from my home address; however, this is not uncommon for business owners and it really shouldn’t matter considering the IRS, my state revenue service, and my financial institution all verify that the information I’ve provided to Etsy is valid and accurate.
