Impossible - Expected delivery before it is sent in the mail
I have an item due to be sent Dec 24th. Expected delivery is "Dec 23 - Jan 2nd."
Obviously I can not deliver it before I ship it. Not helpful.

I know the postal services are over optimistic with their own ability to ship in time, but that is extremely clever if they can do it before dispatch

yep, I've had one of those too. I think there are other threads on the same subject.

Re: Impossible - Expected delivery before it is sent in the mail
They’re ignoring the dispatch date and giving the “best possible scenario” by giving the soonest date as if it shipped today, and the “at the latest” based on the actual shipping date. They’re trying to force sellers to ship straight away.

Well I've seen threads where it promises super fast delivery, but not before the send by date? Unless I get my time machine out of storage.

Re: Impossible - Expected delivery before it is sent in the mail
Where’s Marty McFly when you need him? This is absurd! I just watched a video about Hermes…the wait for a new or custom Hermes bag is over two years, so people who appreciate the more finely-crafted things in life understand that handmade quality takes time. And here’s Etsy pushing sellers to get our finely-crafted items out the door at the speed of light. So much for being an upscale operation. We’ve become just another Temu wanna-be.
ETA: I also saw that Temu has set up warehouses in Australia and is now guaranteeing 2-day delivery there. I don’t know if that’s true (because I think I saw it on FB), but if it is, then seriously?

@MouseGarden: "Obviously I can not deliver it before I ship it." The "logic" is that you might / can / are encouraged to ship early.

Re: Impossible - Expected delivery before it is sent in the mail
Is it due to ship on Dec. 24 exactly? (Meaning, you have no range for processing, only a specific exact day?) Or by Dec. 24? If you have a range of days set up for processing, Etsy's going to start the countdown at the very beginning of your processing period.
So if you have processing set from 1-10 days, and the order is placed today, Etsy hopes you'll ship on day 1. Shipping on day 1 would mean the order might arrive before the 10th day of your processing period.

Thank you for this!
While things are still not accurate, I did notice that eliminating a range for processing time has helped the dates not be so crazy.

Re: Impossible - Expected delivery before it is sent in the mail
Etsy sets the estimated arrival dates based on historical data, and as with most things Etsy does it's flawed.
Due to their "get it on time or your money back" promise, sellers try to add in time for safety. The combination doesn't work together to produce an accurate estimate.
I am sure this flawed system, producing ridiculously short or long arrival times, has worked against some shops reducing sales.

Re: Impossible - Expected delivery before it is sent in the mail
Pretty much most of mine have shown an earlier date than the actual dispatch by date. Others are just wacko crazy dates made up by an AI, etsy santa tracker express service! for my latest not an earlier date on this one but shows will reach the US from the UK as follows
dispatch date is by 2nd Jan as I have a 5 - 7 lead time
arrival date
Buyer expects delivery by: 03-04 Jan
YES will reach the US the next day!! after mailing!! I mean what the actual F... appears to be treating this like domestic mail and not international
Merry Christmas to all have a good one. x

Re: Impossible - Expected delivery before it is sent in the mail
Same issue, for a long time now. I just ship based on my processing times and ignore the red font at this point.. even when I ship same day I'm still getting the "buyer expects sooner" message on some packages.

Re: Impossible - Expected delivery before it is sent in the mail
Been going on for a while now, I used to contact my buyers and explain that Etsy is trying to change the fundamentals of time.
I give them credit for trying, I'd love to change time.
Happy Holidays.

Re: Impossible - Expected delivery before it is sent in the mail
Same is happening to me, buyers are expecting before my processing is even up.
We need to keep reporting it. They have been telling me since April that they know about it and are working on it but they have to see and hear from us how much of an issue this is.
