I want my listing to not show my town

First things first, I understand needing a location of origin, but I live in a VERY small town (<2000 people) meaning that my personal information would be very easy to discover. The only reason this is a problem is I want to share my listing to people I know in various internet circles and don't wish for my town I live in to be there for anyone to find. I just want like literally any other way that is not my town for this, if I could maybe have my county or something I would be better

Could you use Chicago or another nearby city?

I'm not sure what "personal information" you think would be easy to discover....all anybody knows about me from having my "town" listed is that I live in Tick Bite NC.  Nothing personal about that.

Re: I want my listing to not show my town

I wouldn't worry, I live in an even smaller place, and have to have my actual address displayed to all those in the EU and UK.

and as I do quite a lot of voluntary work, anyone coming to where I live and asks for me, by name, will be directed to where I live - if they can't get their satnav to work where there is no mobile signal.

millions of other sellers here also have their actual full address displayed, I wouldn't worry about it.

I think the city on your listings is based on the zip code from where you ship.  My closest post office is actually in a different city, so my listings don't have my city listed. Check the zip code of your post office.

Re: I want my listing to not show my town

You could probably use a nearby town.

I do worry about a bit about security ... I live in on a farm ... nearest neighbor is very elderly ... so I do feel a bit exposed sometimes. But then again, my address is in so many places that if someone wanted to find me, they could. I think we're all in pretty plain sight unless we choose to live off the grid ... and then how would I power my torch and kilns?

I agree with using a town nearby.

Mine is so small it has to list Tucson, it doesn't even come up. We have a separate zip code but thats about it.

I live in a small town too and I just use San Antonio because I am very close. Plus, we don't even have a post office, so there's no way to actually ship from my town.

Just use the state and then country. I've seen people who have done that. ex: Colorado, USA

You have to use the place where you ship from in the listing.  No way around it unless you ship from another community.

You can use a nearby city for the location on your shop home page but you must have the location of where you ship from.   That is Etsy guidelines.
