I removed my response to a customer's review - is it possible to add a response again?

Hello, 

I have been contacted by a customer as he wanted to update his review but he couldn't because it was locked after my response. 

I then cancelled my response, but he is not allowed do update his review anyway. 

Is it possible to add my response back now?

I am relatively new on Etsy, so wasn't aware of all of this.

No unfortunately, you only get one shot,that's why it's imperative you say what you want to, how you want to, first time.

No,

once you leave a review, you lock the customers review, and they can't change it, ever

If you remove your review, it doesn't make any difference, they still can't change it

you only have 1 shot at responding to a review, you cannot edit it, you can just delete it, but you can't then add another response

 

.... you have all 5* reviews, which are great, so I wouldn't worry

they can only edit it

and only if the seller has not responded

@AdairAtTheFair Reviews also can only be edit for up to 100 days after the last estimated shipping date - your one review seems very close to that, I would think.  It's a great review though!

As others have said, no, that is not possible. That is why you shouldn't be too hasty to answer reviews. If there is a problem, try to work it out with the customer privately in a convo and/or email first. And wait until you are calm so you can answer professionally, without calling out the buyer with personal feelings. Most reviewers never return to see if you responded anyway. Your answer is mostly for future customers to see how you behave and handle problems when they do come up.

I appreciate community members chiming in.

I am the customer in this instance.

I very recently submitted the review.

I'm not trying to simply edit it but delete it.

I'm not sure if the seller responded to my review or simply messaged me about the review (I don't know how to tell the difference, it all just looks like my messages inbox--they refer to the order number but my review isn't quoted within the message or anything...).

The shop and I worked something else out, so while the item is still not 5 stars, we were able to compromise elsewhere. I'd rather not bring their overall rating down with a low review but adjusting this particular purchase to a higher rating wouldn't be accurate either so I just wanted to call it a wash and delete it entirely. Not sure why this isn't an option or what value Etsy perceives there to be in not empowering a customer to simply reset the slate--it would be the same as if I never submitted a review in the first place. This is unnecessarily frustrating and makes me hesitate now to even bother submitting reviews from here on out on the off-chance I run into this hassle again.

I'll try to reach out to Etsy's tech desk to offer this suggestion during normal business hours next week.

Once you leave a review, you can't delete it, only edit it, up to 100 days from the estimated delivery date.

The star rating you left them can be changed,  but it will still be counted as the original star rating, for "Star Seller" calculations.

You CAN ask Etsy customer service to remove the review, they might be willing.

The solution for FUTURE transactions where there is a problem, if you were unsatisfied, is to Contact the shop directly FIRST to discuss it with them, before leaving a review. 

If at all possible, try to use the regular Message system (Contact the Shop Owner link is on their shop and on every one of their listings), even though Etsy's system will push you to open  " Help Request".

I know it's tough since Etsy's system sends constant reminders about leaving a review, which feels like a push to do it first.

But most sellers want to hear direct communication from our customers if there is an issue, instead of finding out in a review.
