I manually entered the tracking number, on time, but it still says no tracking on the order log

I manually entered tracking for a large order. They had free shipping because of the amount of items. It still shows as pre transit and shows that I didn’t input the tracking on my star seller. They attempted to deliver it today. 
Etsy didn’t even offer me an option to purchase a label for it since I gave them the free shipping code. But now I won’t be a star seller, because of inaccurate data. 

Is there anything that can prevent this in the future?

How long has it been? It can take several days for the CSV to update, even without scanning glitches. There are several weeks left before the badges are awarded again, so you should be okay if the status update is just delayed.

The ability to purchase a label here shouldn't be gone when you offer free shipping.

You have 3 days to update / change Tracking and Carrier information. "Free Shipping" means that the Shipping is "Free" for the Buyer, not the Seller. You should still be able to purchase an Etsy Shipping Label. If Etsy did not facilitate thisthen  it would make a mockery of their "first born "baby-  "Free Shipping" as all who followed this advice about the benefits of "Free Shipping" in line with Etsy's priorities would also be severely disadvantaged where the other Etsy second born "baby" is concerned - SSP.

Free shipping or paid shipping makes no difference in having the option to purchase a label. I've bought plenty of labels for orders that had 'free shipping'.

But there wasn’t an option too. I only had a “completeorder” option.

@GregoryCustomCrafts: How long ago did you ship? Have the packages been scanned? If the shipper is supported by Etsy make sure that the shipped date, tracking number and shipping company show correctly on the actual order. Etsy relies on a third party vendor for tracking (and tracking number validation) and uses the data on the order. Often recent shipments are not correctly / timely updated. Usually a day or two after the tracking number on the order has been scanned the CSV file correctly shows tracking and shipment status and Star Seller stats auto update.

The label was created and shipped March 1st. It was added to Etsy at the same time. It was “out for delivery” March 3rd, however due to the package size and the private address, it has to be picked up at the post office. So I’m not sure what you mean by scanned but that actual tracking has been updated LOTS of times, Etsy just shows pretransit

I just noticed that my star seller stats showed only 96% on time dispatch and tracking.  I shipped two orders in one postal tube yesterday and entered same tracking info for each order when marking complete.  One shows on Etsy as 'in transit' and csv shows tracking but the other shows 'pre transit' and csv shows no tracking.  I think there must be a time lag so I'd just keep an eye on it and hopefully it'll catch up next week.
