For the last week I have been finding it really difficult to get into my shops because of this stupid I'm Not A Robot then 14 captchas! Is this real now or just a glitch? Often the captchas are so grainy you can't even see the pictures. Surely we don't need to have to go through multiple tests and quizzes to get to our dashboard. It's a complete PITA and sometimes takes quite a time filling in captchas and refreshing pages. It's crazy. Any Etsy admins on here who can sort this situation out?
It seems to request this when logging in several times a day or from a different location or device. Have you got 2FA set up? This would limit the amount of times you get the captchas interfering with your log in process
@Razzamazazz: Always try to do a hard page refresh when you get the reCaptcha - this sometimes helps Google know you are a human.
Remember that it is Google that is questioning your humanism. Every time you go to a page protected by reCaptcha it calculates a score - if that score is below the threshold set by the hosting site (in this case Etsy) it starts the reCaptcha image cycle until Google is satisfied that you are a human.
While Google does not share its magic recipe for how it calculates your score there are some known factors: the reputation of your IP address, if you are using a VPN, what browser you are using, if your browser is blocking tracking, what extensions are on your browser, whether or not you are currently logged into Google, viruses or malware on your computer or modem, if you are using a proxy server, your search history, your cookies, etc etc etc. Sometimes it is as simple as your browser not sending enough information and that is why doing a page refresh occasionally works.
Don't log out and bookmark your shop or dashboard.
How do you do that when you have 3 shops?
I have the same issue... it takes too much time !!!
I had a really hard time when I was using Chrome. I have now switched to Edge, and it went away; then I just got Captcha a few times the other day. After trying to see their really grainy photos, I just backed out of Etsy, went back in and signed in without that irritating Captcha. I think Chrome is the main culprit.
I'm using Firefox, sometimes when they do a Browser update I get the CAPTCHAs until I wanna scream. Even 2FA does not help.
I worked in Computer Security for years and some programs dont play well with Google.
Use different browsers for each shop so you don't have to log out.
I've got four shops!!!
And I have 3!
It's ridiculous -
I have Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft edge, and Avast Secure Browser. So what's your point? One click on the task bar to switch browsers if you have them open.
Probably not as convenient if you are trying to run you business on a phone.
@Razzamazazz I notice this only happens signing in to Etsy. Never experienced this on any other site which makes me think it's not Google but Etsy.
Aside what other sellers have mentioned, try up top where your shop URL is, right click to view site information and see if a setting is blocked, or sign in to your Google account and then try again. Sometimes you'll get only one or two recaptchas rather a ridiculous series of them.
I agree - I can sign into eBay 98 times a day and I have NEVER had to go thru Captcha EVER.
Etsy is the only site that requires this -
Glad I'm not the only one. It's been driving me absolutely nuts. I've tried all the suggestions and I still can't get through the endless array of re captcha pictures. They just keep regenerating. I did do a search through the forum just now and found an old thread where someone went here first, clicked on the big Etsy and was able to get to their shop and bypass the re captcha. I'm using Firefox as my default browser and disabled the extensions. It only happens on my phone while using Firefox. No problem with this at all when I use Firefox on my desktop or Chrome.
This is literally driving me up the wall now!!!!! Just spent 25 minutes trying to log into one of my other shops and just can't. I have tried on Edge, Firefox and Chrome. Can someone suggest a way I get in touch with Etsy to report this. I'm sorry, but to the previous responders, this it does not do this on ANY OTHER site but Esty. I am trying to run a business here and cannot - CANNOT get into my shops.
I wonder if buyers are having the same problems and just going to another site to buy.....
Very likely, Razza, since this appears to be a malfunctioning Captcha engine on various browsers, primarily Firefox. It's not seller-specific.
I'm still having the same issue myself. After trying thru a bunch of tries I logged in with Chrome no problem, didnt have to do Captcha.
Then I went over to Firefox and was able to log in with no Captcha?
I'm having a similar issue, but only on Firefox. I can use Edge and Chrome to log in just fine, but I don't want to use those browsers. I only have a single shop, I never log out, and I still needed to go through Captcha every hour or so.
I say "needed", Past Tense, because now it's even worse - I can't get in AT ALL! It just says "You've been blocked". For God's sake!
There's something wrong with this particular Captcha engine. I am having the same problem on Allegro, a Polish marketplace, which uses the same Captcha as Etsy. I have no issues anywhere else.
This morning took me 7 minutes of Captcha to log-in, this happen before earlier this year. They just need to remove the Captcha and use some thing else or at least an option to be challenged by something else.
@Havunome It's a Google service, not Etsy. It would be nice if they would both work together and find some other solution that doesn't waste so much time and makes more sense. It's been 20 years since it was created. It's time to update the service!
Recently, I had to remove Firefox from my computer and go to Mozilla to download a new copy. The one I deleted was extremely corrupted. The new install fixed it. Google Chrome is also taking forever to load. I have to hit F5 to get in. Probably will do the same reload as I did to Firefox.
I've had customers tell me, that they have problems logging into etsy, because of the captchas. So. Everyone is dealing with it too. Bad for business.
If we Sellers are Having Problems Logging on, Suppose the Customers are having Trouble too? Uhm Suppose that's a Possibility Views & $ales are Down this Holiday Season?
