Hi - looking for advice on star seller/customer service badges. On the customer service stats, it states: "As of August 1, there’s room to improve your customer service and better meet buyers’ expectations."
The only target it says I'm not hitting is case rate. I have 100% in message response rate, 100% on time tracking & shipping, 5.0 in stars, and 0 cases in the case rate section. But, the case rate section has a note that says: "To be eligible for star seller, you just need to meet the standard for case rate."
If the standard is "no more than 3" then why doesn't 0 out of 131 sales qualify me?? 0 is not more than 3. Do they WANT me to have cases against my shop? I don't understand this.
I was FINALLY going to qualify for star seller in September because I had good consistent sales for the first time ever, and now they changed the standards and took it away. Why?
TIA
@TSTCustomDesigns: Etsy is known for poorly worded information. You always have to read things as if they were written by a lawyer for other lawyers. The "To be eligible for star seller ..." statement is probably meant to be a disclaimer not an indication of your current status. I suspect that everyone gets that statement, we certainly have it.
It is a disclaimer, I have the same in my dashboard
Looking at your shop front, you do not have the badges for messages or rave reviews. Are you sure you are looking at the right star seller period? Above you say "as of August 1", so perhaps that pertains to the LAST qualifying period, and you are instead looking at your current status for Sept 1.
That's a good point and I'm not really sure, to be honest. It's not actually clear. It says as of August 1st and I know I didn't qualify in August, but SHOULD qualify in September, I would think. However, the message that says "To be eligible for star seller, you just need to meet the standard for case rate" makes me think it's saying I still won't qualify due to 0 cases. But, perhaps I'm just not understanding the timeframes. It's probably worth noting though that I AM in the "Current period" tab and the heading says "Next chance to become a Star Seller: September 1 • Based on current review period: June 1–August 31, 2024"

Because you don't have any cases there is nothing to rate. I have this all the time with messages, because I very seldom have any messages. If there is nothing to rate then you automatically qualify for that metric.
@NoFrogsAllowed , Okay that makes sense. I was freaking out a bit because I thought something was wrong and I haven't had a case in a few years. Yet it doesn't show a purple blurb underneath the box like the other boxes do. No cases = nothing to rate.
@CatsBeadKitsandMore: There is no purple blurb probably because (at least currently) case rate is not a Star Seller metric.
It took me a second too, it's badly worded. It's just saying to meet that standard and you are.
I’m sorry! Experiencing similar and I know it’s extremely frustrating. Getting the runaround from automated messages is making me leave for good. I hope you have more patience than me and get through it! Good luck
It's just badly worded. If you have 0 cases, then you are ok and you have met the standard for case rate.
@TSTCustomDesigns Its poorly worded and yes….confusing. Star seller here and I thought the same thing too….had to reread it several times before I made the connection. Having that box next to all the others seems as if you need it for star seller….when actually it’s best to be at 0 cases.
perhaps we should all give feed back on that one.
mine just says
case rate
0 cases out of 72 orders
no more than 7 orders had cases refunded from your payment account
to be eligible for star seller, you just need to be eligible for case rate.
....
....... and I have met the case rate, I am under 7, therefor I am eligible,
it would make sense to add the rate, but etsy's not always that sensible
...............
In truth, If I had 7 cases in the last 3 months that I lost and etsy recouped from me,
star seller would be the least of my worries,
I would be closing my shop myself
