So I had a shop sale and all of my items were on a 25% sale. I got an order and it said that the original price of the item I sold was $15.00 which is correct, and with the discount it is now $11.25 which I didn't think anything about because it was the correct amount. And then a few days later I got an email saying that they put the money from that order into my bank account and the amount that they issued was $9.71... I don't know what to do... Is this just me or did I just get scammed by Esty? Please let me know what I should do or if I am missing anything. I feel like I am missing something but I have double and tipple checked and I don't see the problem. Thank you.
The amount that went to your account would be net of the fees that Etsy charges for transactions. There is a transaction fee on the sold price, another on the shipping and a processing fee on the total proceeds from the sale.
You should review the fee structure https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035902374-Etsy-Fee-Basics-?segment=selling
Hi, Did you check what it says in your Payment Account? (fees and any other, etc.)
ETA: I finished typing and saw EightMileVintage's response.
The difference is the fees that Etsy took from the balance. They then deposited what was left.
All fees are itemised in your shop payment account (under Finances).
I feel like I am missing something...
You are missing something, and that's all the fees on that sale that come out of your take as well. Etsy takes those immediately after the sale.
So $9.71 sounds about right, if you figure on your total fees being about 12%.
Also, if you listed or relisted anything, those 20c are deducted from the amount before the day of deposit.
I don't think that is it because I had another order a few weeks before that and the correct amount came to my account so it wasn't the charges that etsy took. anything else?
Before Etsy paid you, they paid themselves. Go the Finances and then your Shop Payment Account and you will see where the money went. You don't get the full amount of the sale - fees have to be paid first.
You have nice things in your shop, but you really should consider increasing the price of your items and/or eliminating free shipping; otherwise, you're going to end up losing all the way around.
In the US, your base fees will come to about 10%. Then, if you are running ads, that comes out too. If you haven't opted out of offsite ads, that's an additional 15%.
You also have free shipping, which at a minimum will be about $4. Up your prices, or get rid of the sale. And if you're running ads,
You are charged 6.5% selling fee for both the item price + the postage. Then .25 + 3% for the credit card processing fee on the whole order, including taxes. If you owed any listing fees, Etsy Labels or advertising fees when the sale was deposited in your account, they also pay those fees before sending you what is left. It should all be itemized on your Payments page.
By the way, NOW would be a great time to set up your accounting. You will be happy you did.
also if I have a discount on my shop does it take any more from my total profit?
