I got married at the end of September and my surname changed. I did not think to update my surname on the Bank Details page.
In October Etsy sent me a deposit with my old surname. This money was held in the bank's pool due to a surname mismatch and returned to Etsy.
I went to the "Legal and Tax Information" page, clicked "edit" in the "Legal shop information" section and typed in my new surname. Etsy asked me for a document and I had not yet received my new ID. So I uploaded the marriage certificate and since then my new surname has been in "Pending verification" status. It has been 25 days since I made this change and it is still like this, there is no change.
This month Etsy again sent a deposit with my old surname, the money was sent back to Etsy from the bank pool. Due to surname mismatch. I have been trying to update my surname on the "Legal and tax information" page for 25 days, I have created 2 separate cases. I get answers like "friends will take care of it" to the cases I open, they tell me about Etsy's processing times. I can't reach a solution and I can't get my money. No one answers my messages from the Live Chat application anymore.
Since I live in Turkey, I cannot be called by phone, because Etsy does not provide this service to Turkey. I don't know what to do. Etsy is a world giant company, but I can't reach anyone in this company who can change my last name.
Is there a phone number where I can reach Etsy Finance or how else can I solve this problem?
Sorry I am of no help but I did want to tell you that if you try to google a phone number for Etsy the one that is shown there is NOT Etsy. It was put up by scammers and it is not legitimate.
I have no idea why google does not remove this.
I wish an Etsy official would read this message and help me...
Very rarely they will but do not count on it.
I guess I will have to apply to the state and get my old surname back to get my money from Etsy... it's very traumatic
I am sure that our countries are different but when I married I simply went to my bank and kept the same bank account but added my new name to the account. They put my old name as an AKA (also known as) . Therefore I can use either name when using the account.
Do they not do that in your country? Surely the bank knows you are the same person.
