When I responded to the buyers with pictures. It always shows a note "Looks like you're messaging this person for the first time, so you can't send images yet." Whether new or returning customers.
ETSY PLEASE HELP!
I can't send pics even if it's not the first time teaching out. Trying to send my customer a proof. It's been going on for months.... really frustrating!
One is able to send images to buyers, following the message box on their order page. I've noticed, the message icon, which was an "envelop" earlier has changed to a think bubble with 3 dots inside. Please look out for that.
When I hit send, I get an error message and it does not send.
BUG - NO WAY TO ATTACH AN IMAGE. IMages cannot be attached to messages in any browser. If I find an attachment button in the order or in the app messages, I get an error when sending and it does not send.
I just got off the phone with support and he was unaware of the issue but stated he has escalated it internally. We tried multiple browsers without success. I was able to drag and drop an image into the message and it attached, but there was never a button to attach an image. Unfortunately, even with the drag/drop it gave an error message when trying to send.
Please, how did you get Etsy phone support???

Having the same problem! I can't send proofs to customers for approval. Come on Etsy....
Having the same problem. Tried multiple browsers with no luck. Tried within the order but I get an error can't send message. Something changed since yesterday. Hopefully just a bug and they can fix it.
I was on Etsy chat this morning about this and they are escalating it. We shall see...

I am trying to send pictures of yarns for a color choice for a custom order. I've tried on my desktop (Chrome) and the app. Both say it failed. I was able to send a message without the attached picture.
Hopefully this gets resolved soon as my customer is waiting for a preview for a custom design.
The communication is still mainly based on pictures!! This is really a serious bug. Now I can only communicate about pictures through email.
I did a chat with Etsy in the help center and they said they had not been notified of the problem and were unaware. Please report this problem to Etsy via chat or phone call!!
The icon for uploading attachments on my web page also disappeared, and the app can't send photos. Customer service asked me to re-download the app, but this didn't solve the problem. The problem still exists! ! What should I do? This is a big problem! !
On your order page there is a drop down under the person's name. In the drop down, there is an actual email address for the buyer. Use regular email, type in the order number from Etsy, and say whatever you need to say in the message area. At the bottom, it let's you attach photos from a computer. If you only have them on your phone, send them to yourself on a computer. Attach the photos (They will upload.) and your customer can download them from the email.
I have been able to successfully send photos to customers as recently as this morning, using my phone browser (Samsung Galaxy).
I have also received photos from customers this morning. Based on the demographic age of the customers, I assume they are either using a phone browser or the app, not a laptop, desktop or ipad/tablet.
If you need to send off a time sensitive photo to a customer, try using your phone browser.
Email also goes from computers to phones.
I have used the Etsy app, the Etsy website on a mobile browser, and 3 different browsers on a desktop computer. I cleared cookies. I logged out and back in again. Nothing works. If I attempt to send an image via the app, I get an error that the message didn't send. There is no button to send an image on the browser version of Etsy. If I drag and drop an image into the text box of a chat, I get an error that I can't send an image to a customer in the first message with them, even if there is a long chain of responses in my message history with that customer. I believe this is an issue on Etsy's end.
I contacted customer support but they don't know anything about it and recommended trying a different browser.
I've contacted etsy support but seem they was not able to resolve the issue, she said me to clear cache and change the browser!
EDIT! As of 4:50 PM the icon is back and I was able to send an image on my PC!!!!
OK, I see nothing has changed since this morning. I was away all day and hoped it would be fixed. I was on Etsy Chat this morning at 7:30 am and they said they were escalating it to tech support but I see they haven't been able to fix it and 3 hours ago support doesn't seem to even know about it based on the note by @ArtByAelia ???
I just checked, and the icon is back for me too! Thank goodness! I had proofs I needed to send!
