What is someone else doing that has the same Etsy problem? I have two stores. On every listing that I had Ground Advantage as a shipping option, I have the message, "Update Required". I have to go into every single one and AGAIN select Ground Advantage. They took it out and left a blank. Now I have to put them all back in. What the? What are you sellers doing if you have this problem. I need to list. I don't have time for this craziness.
I put first class shipping and when I make the label. I choose ground advantage.
Because it isn't priority.
Are they really removing Ground Advantage? Because they just added it a few days ago, and have been removing First Class from shipping profiles.
I'm sorry you are going to have to edit so many listings. It's much easier with shipping profiles.
But shipping profiles are a p.i.t.a. for sellers that sell items with a wide variety of shapes and weights (esp. vintage). I might have a shipping profile for a 10-lb item and not have another 10-lb item for a few years. Many vintage items (books, etc.) can go media mail, which requires yet another profile.
When you only sell stickerss, orr beads, or rings, or scarves, yes, it makes sense.
@VintageRescueSquad
I know, I wasn't suggesting the OP change her listings to use profiles. I was just saying it was easier with them (but still a pain.)
I had actually looked at the OP's shop first before commenting, hoping that there was an easy way to make the change.
Agree @Adorabilities - I have literally 6 pages of shipping profiles ( down from 8 as I just redid things).. so much easier.. and some as @VintageRescueSquad says I might only use 1x a year.. but they are there if I need them. All my items weigh different amounts and are put into different shipping packages. Set them up once and forget them. it works especially well when there are postage increases.. Etsy takes care of all that and I don't have to think twice.
Just my thoughts
If you create a ground advantage shipping profile (assuming you use the same profile for all of your listings) you can edit them all at one time. Go to Listings, select all of your listings, then Edit options, then Change Shipping Profiles, and select and apply it to all of them.
Again, not helpful if you look at her shop. No idea what the other one sells, but this one has books, heavy tools, china, shoes, etc.
That can mean a lot of shipping profiles, some of which might be rarely used.
I have one profile - calculated shipping. I change the weight and measurement individually for each listing because they're almost all unique.
Thank you! That's what I was getting at regarding the suggestion to create a shipping profile. It's a lot easier than doing each one separately.
@HauteVintageJewels I use calculated shipping, and some of mine had Ground Advantage and some didn't, mostly not. I had to choose parcel post or first class on most of them.
This is a problem for me because First Class kicks up to Priority if it is over a pound (and I have lots of products near that cutoff), while Ground Advantage is up to 70 pounds,
If I use Parcel Post, it usually isn't quite enough, but if it kicks up to Priority, I have to overcharge my customer for Priority when they weren't in a hurry.
Exactly. Easy peasy.
THIS ^^^ EXACTLY! When a seller has multiple items that each have different weights & sizes, the ONLY logical shipping profile to use is calculalted shipping! No muss-no fuss ... just add the item weight & size to each listing ... the services you elect to use within the calculated shipping profile will take care of the rest for you. FCM + Parcel Select will enact the Ground Advantage rates, then you can also enact a shipping upgrade (PM or PME) for buyer to opt for at checkout.
@AAANativeArts - Except First Class Parcel hasn't existed for about a year now. Ground Advantage combined FCP & (whatever USPS was calling Parcel Post).
Ground Advantage goes up to 70 pounds, just like Priority Mail.
And now I see the issue. When you try to add a calculated shipping profile, it doesn't give the option of Ground Advantage. It only has 1st class as one of the choices. You could use 1st class for now for a bulk edit.
Yeah. You have to pick whatever the other option is - I forgot the other name (not 1st class but maybe parcel post or something). It will still show up as Ground Advantage to the buyer and on the order form.
@PrairiePrimitives That's what I meant. Etsy offers two outdated classes of mail that the post office did away with a long time ago. But the parcel rate isn't enough for Ground Advantage and if you use First Class and your item is over a pound, it automatically kicks up to the higher Priority rate, which isn't necessary for Ground Advantage. So if you want to use calculated shipping, you either have to undercharge or overcharge when your customer isn't in a hurry.
@AAANativeArts - OHHH! Got it now (I think). This apparently only affects shops using calculated shipping. I've always used shipping profiles where I set the shipping cost. Sorry to bother you.
I think the change to include Ground Advantage has been a slow roll out & possibly includes glitches.
I have not had the ability to choose Ground Advantage when changing/updating shipping profiles. So all I've done is be sure that Parcel Select is included (under the advanced options)
However I do still see First Class as a class of mail to choose in the profiles but now it is described as a way to "send letter mail".
ETA - Yes, I use calculated shipping and only have a few profiles. One includes media mail with upgrade options.
After seeing the notation on First Class - that it was a great way to send letters - I removed it from my profiles.
i'm having an issue with this as well. It's telling me updates are required on all of my listings and I can't renew sold out listings unless I update this. I've selected Ground Advantage as I have it as an option, however when I go to save I get an error that "We can't update your profile".
This is so frustrating. I have best sellers I can relist right now.
That's strange. I just went into one of my existing shipping profiles that had USPS 1st Class and changed it to Ground Advantage and it saved it. Another Etsy glitch?
@BlairNadeauBridal
Do you have shipping upgrades enabled in those profiles?
The one I had to change was actually down at the bottom of the page, as one of the upgrades. It wasn't the regular shipping fee. Until I found it, I was also getting "can't update" errors.
@Adorabilities omg thank you! that was it!!!
@BlairNadeauBridal
Yay!
What about lumping certain similar items together into a few shipping profiles and get a close / average shipping fee for each profile until you can edit each listing individually? Will a few bucks here and there be so bad for the sake of time savings?
160 listings shouldn't take than long... I have 2 stores too with way more than 160 items each.
