WHY IS ETSY ALLOWING NAKED PICTURES ON ETSY ???
ETSY IS SUPPOST TO BE A SELLING PLATFORM FOR HANDMADE THINGS!
NOT PROMOTING PICTURES OF NAKED PEOPLE...
PLEASE REMOVE THEM THERE ARE YOUNG CHILDREN SEEING THE PICTURES ON ETSY.
I get this stuff in my feed too & I am not searching for it. I buy soap & see wiener soap. I look at crocheted stuff & get crocheted genitals. Not long ago, I had been looking at soap a bunch & my home page had "You may be interested in" with lots of soap & then a crotchless pantie set that was not censored at all. Had boobs & genitals hanging out. Not sure how that related to soap?
Yes, you can search for something perfectly innocent and have all kinds of "mature" stuff come up. It's almost as if the famous search algorithm is intentionally set to be as broad as possible in order to produce this result. Nah, they wouldn't do that, would they?
It does make me hesitate to search for certain simple things, though, knowing what the likely result will be. I can only imagine what a customer would think and how annoyed they would be to keep getting such recommendations based on a simple search.
Please don't search for "pop up cards" then if you are offended - there are several "phallic" ones = need another name for my cards Help. Wish I'd never looked now !!
Hello there!
Sorry to hear about this, Vera. Please check our article on Reporting an Item or a Shop for instructions on how to proceed if you come across a shop that you suspect might be going against our Terms of Use.
For Intellectual Property concerns, feel free to check out our Intellectual Property Policy and reach out on etsy.me/help if you have any questions.
Edit: Since reporting an item/shop invariably implicates you accessing said content, and since your suggestions are partially based on your recent browsing history, make sure to clear your browser's cache and cookies right afterward. Once you do this, also make sure to update your Etsy Privacy Settings, namely by utilizing the "clear recently viewed listings". By doing this, you ensure that any future suggestions will disregard any content that you do not wish to engage with.
Lastly, if by any chance you are still experiencing issues, do not hesitate to contact our support team.
Thank you!
"Since reporting an item/shop invariably implicates you accessing said content ..."
How about if something is reported, then said content should be automatically deducted from future Etsy suggestions to the one who reported?
We should have the ability to block users and shops.
OMG really, do they have any idea how many of 100s, if not 1000s of mature items are sold here, I've been sending messages about this for months. No one, even in a one-on-one chat will address these issues. It's clearly stated in their own policy this is not allowed. I swear it's like banging my head against the wall.
What a bother! I have not seen any nudes here on etsy, but I just bumped into a shop that sells medical supplies. What on Earth is that? Here on etsy? It's crazy! I shouldn't be surprised. So many resellers of all kinds of junk.
@NataBurgos Maybe searches you do, has something connected to do with your shop or related with your utility waist bags. Nice handy bags : )
@CraftyCraftsCorners Thanks for checking!
But with medical supplies I mean elements like medical equipment, items to operate people and things like that. Super odd IMO. I just saw a shop full of that.
@Stitchinthread while I understand that @ModFabio states how to report...I think once you select the item to report, You will have these types of items in your feed, and per some of the threads I have read, in the other sections of your items, at the bottom where they advertise other's items, some of this can show up, as mentioned before.
If you click on the item, I think you will need to delete your browsing history as well as something else, I just cannot remember what it is...maybe one of the other experts will remember.
The browser's cache and cookies - thank you for the reminder, I'll edit my post and add this piece.
@PillowDetails Darn and here I thought I was going to finally be able to spice up my feed, but when I do “tickleyour” all I get is stickers? And not xrated ones. Guess I have to keep trying. Lol
@TickleYourWitch as long as it’s searched as all one word you won’t get something that looks like a pie crust cutter, but is not that.
Etsy is an adult site and has never claimed to be anything else. Nudity, BDSM paraphernalia and sex toys are allowed here. But they do need to follow the same stated rules as the rest of the site .... Handmade, Vintage or Supplies, and the first listing should not show mature content.
Etsy says ...
"We define mature content containing printed or visual depictions of human genitalia, sexual activity or content, profane language, sexual wellness items, violent images (within reason; see also Violent Items), and explicit types or representations of taxidermy."
Unfortunately for some, Etsy's attitude toward illegal mature listings seems to have become the same as Etsy's attitude toward resellers and counterfeiters (as has been posted here in the forum, over and over).
While they say it is not allowed, a simple view of the site will validate that, in fact, it is being allowed. For whatever reasons.
Are they just not equipped to enforce their own rules?
It has been posted by others here that it is because it makes money for them. I hope that isn't the case, but those menstrual bloodstained panties can go for $50.00 and up. And there are Louis Vuitton mass counterfeiters with Etsy Bestseller badges on their listings.
And the shop I mentioned in another thread that has a first page brimming with nakedddicks has been reported for months and they are still standing:))))
Why? I sincerely wish we knew and didn't have to speculate. But long gone are the days when Etsy communicated with us.
I just searched on "naked women" and was returned 33955 results that will take me days to go through.
@thePaperFramer ummmm…have fun with that
Children are not allowed on Etsy. If you allow children to view, that is yours to control not Etsy.
Some nudity is beautiful. Some is not. There are other things I object to more on Etsy than nudity. We all have things that we object to.
Etsy follows the guidelines of what is pornographic or not. If the item is not pornographic but shows the private area then it must be labeled mature with appropriate masking. Not all sellers comply.
Not all sellers comply, and it can take Etsy months to remove something that has been reported over and over and over and over.
The nakedpeen that was showing up in children's costumes for example. I know that was reported. And yet it stayed and stayed.
There is enough of not handmade toys on here. I would be surprised if any adult toys are handmade.
" I would be surprised if any adult toys are handmade."
Sorry, but that is a rather unfair blanket statement.
You can (hand)make almost anything by pouring an appropriate substance into an appropriate mold.
Etsy is NOT an adult only site. It is a site for selling handmade, vintage, or supply items. To call it an adult only site, is misleading. You have to be an adults (over 18) to sell on Etsy. Children 13 to 18 can have shops on Etsy with an adult on the account. If Etsy was an adult only site, they would have to post a statement to that fact and state that you are 18 or older before you could open the site. They don't! Etsy does have rules that need be followed for any mature content. Shops that don't follow these rules should be reported. Not everyone want to see mature content items.
Hello! Thank you for all of your input. We’re closing this thread now as it appears to have come to a natural conclusion.
