Holiday Mode / Taxpayer ID

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some help and wondering if anyone is in the same boat. I received the following message tonight on my Etsy store and after having a look, Etsy has suddenly put my shop in holiday mode.

"Confirm your seller info within 7 days to keep getting paid

As Etsy and sellers’ businesses continue to grow, you’ll need to share a bit more info about yourself to meet new regulations. This helps us keep our community safe and create a better experience for buyers. Make sure to confirm your info within 7 days, or you won’t get paid for your sales until you complete this request."

I am a UK seller and have had my shop 3+ years. I have had a look into a Vat ID from the Etsy support section but unsure what this is or how to even get one to try and get my shop back up and running. I am unable to take my shop out holiday mode and have contacted Etsy but they may take days to get back!

All help, advice and suggestions would be welcomed.

Thank you!

Re: Holiday Mode / Taxpayer ID

I would say 13000 sales in 3 years is more than a hobby, either way everyone needs to be verified or your shop is blocked.

Even long term sellers had to reverify in the past 12 months even though they were verified years ago.

Thanks for your comment. Would you be able to let me know what information is required and how I get this information?

You will need to contact Etsy and ask them what they require from you. Unless you have received an email or there is a notification in your dashboard.

Best thing to do is contact Etsy as they will not open your shop until you give them what they have requested.

Re: Holiday Mode / Taxpayer ID

Is Etsy asking you to add a VAT number?  If yes, then it's because you've reached the UK sales threshold and are required by your government to register for VAT. Etsy won't be able to tell you how to get a VAT number, you'll need to check with your government website on how to obtain one.

Re: Holiday Mode / Taxpayer ID

sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but your post makes me wonder if we all should be withdrawing every day just in case etsy locks up all our funds with no notice.

Re: Holiday Mode / Taxpayer ID

Thank you! It appears it has happened to a few Etsy accounts as I can see other threads tonight with the same problem. I’m hoping that it is a glitch as I have not hit the 85k threshold or even close! I will wait for more info from Etsy on how to add the information needed.

Definitely makes you rethink your selling platform, many hours of hard work and within a second they can do this with no prior warning! Very frustrated and saddened by this.
