Help

help I have an Etsy shop and a few weeks ago I received messages, via the Etsy app, from someone saying they were Etsy technical support and have since been scammed out of £518. I have tried to reach out to Etsy via countless emails and also via social media but no one has got back to me. I need help to get through to them. My shop is very small and it took me a year to save up that sum.
please can anyone help or advise

eva.

Re: Help

It wasn't etsy and they can't help you. Contact your bank and see if they can help.

Re: Help

@No66VintageCandleCo

you had a phishing message,

if you gave them your e-mail, or clicked on a link, you went off etsy, etsy can't help you.

You need to contact your bank and let them know your have been defrauded by a phishing scam
cancel your card, and get a new one.
Your bank are the only ones that can help, they may or may not refund, depending on the card and terms, a few UK sellers have reported they were refunded from their bank, but if it was a few weeks ago, it's probably too late to claim.

you should have reported them to action fraud, use that report number with your bank, it often helps with a fraud claim.

the information you need to provide is the e-mail address they used to ask for your card details, and the account you authorised the payment to go to

you should also report the e-mail from the phishers to your e-mail provider, so they can block them from contacting anyone else.
and mark them as spam and block sender, in your e-mail

you may find a few weeks is too long to have waited for a fraud claim

Re: Help

Soo sad and frustrating to see these every day - it seems to be getting worse!

Hey @CraftyCornishMaids  - I wanted to ask you if you've noticed the "people search" isn't working any more - at least for me.  Are you seeing that?  Wondering if that is an attempt by Etsy to somehow curb the scammers looking for new shops?

* I'm only asking you, because you mentioned in a previous thread you found millions of users with the name "betsy".

@PillowDetails

The people search stopped working the next day!

that means, you can't search for scammers any more, who use "etsy" in the name

don't think it will do anything to stop scammers, just stop us finding them.
