PS: The message in question did not come from Etsy, and we have already actioned the account attempting to impersonate admin.
I can not seem to figure out how to respond and what to respond with. I ha e used my email and says not a registered user name. Did my store name same thing.
This is a scam. Mark as scam & delete.
Looks like Etsy closed their account before you had the chance to reply and now they won’t be able to empty your bank account.
@KnKsKreations: The "The username you have entered is not a valid Etsy user" message almost always means that the account has been closed (either by the person or by Etsy - in this case probably the latter). Just in case, try to mark the message as SPAM (at last report you cannot do that using the seller app only a browser, even your mobile browser, or the buyer app).
You are fortunate that Etsy closed that account before they scammed you. For future, any messages that are truly from Etsy will appear in your Shop Manager>Messages in the section named From Etsy which appears third from the top under Inbox and Order Help Requests. If not there, the message is not from Etsy. *This From Etsy section does not appear in the app, so check your messages on the Etsy site in a browser*.
The message was in my shop inbox and i am on a computer
Yes, it will appear in your shop inbox - anyone can message you and it will appear in your inbox because the inbox shows all messages.
But if the message purporting to be from Etsy is not also in the 'From Etsy' section, it is NOT from Etsy, it is a scam.
Unless the message was located in the “from Etsy” folder in your inbox, it was a scam attempt:
