Help with completing an order

Hello! I just made my first sale on Etsy through Printful. I am a little confused on whether I am supposed to complete the order on Etsy or do I wait for Printful to Fulfill the item first? Or am I simply not supposed to complete the order? Thanks for the help.

Did you research how Printiful syncs with your Etsy shop before opening? Have you checked with them to see if they received the order?

Yes I already researched that. Printful says it has the order it just is waiting to be fulfilled.

Well yes, I had to pay for the fulfillment of the item so yes in a way they have been paid.

Just an observation...........It always amazes me the number of new sellers that don't research how the system works before opening their store.......

I did research the system. I understand how it works but nothing was said whether I have to complete the order on Etsy or not.

@ContrastedClothing: "... nothing was said whether I have to complete the order on Etsy or not ..." If your integration is properly set up, the order will be automatically marked as completed (shipped) when Printful actually ships.

Remember that an integration failure or late shipment by the production partner is not a defense if the order is not marked as completed with verifiable tracking on or before the scheduled ship date. It is ultimately the shop's responsibility alone.

It'll say Waiting to be Fulfilled until it goes into production, usually a day or 2, then you'll see the different stages named until it ships. The shipping notification will be sent automatically, on the Etsy end, because your shop is synced to Printful and the order is synced.

I actually hate that we can't control the closing out of the shipping notification ourselves on Etsy. The print providers could code it to give us the option I'm sure, but don't likely consider it necessary or widely desired.

Okay this definitely clears it up. So this means I don't have to do anything? Printful will automatically send out the shipping notification when it is ready? Then Etsy will change as well once Printful sends out the notification. Thanks!!

Yes, you'll see the order go to Complete on Etsy once it ships from Printful. The buyer will receive a shipping notification with the tracking info in it.
