Help on selling

Recently I put a number of my listings on discount. Some 20 percent off and some 25 percent off. It basically was during month of April to May 2nd. I had no response. I did get one sale on May 1 but listing was not on sale.  Need some feedback why no response. Thank you Dee Scherr

Re: Help on selling

This could be due to several things. Do you have an example of one of the listings you were hoping would sell? Something’s that could’ve caused it not to sell would be 1. Exposure (how many views did you get? If no one saw it no one could buy it. 2. The front listing photo is really make it or break it, maybe work at taking brighter photos. I use a light box and found it helped my listing photos a lot. This helped me get a better click rate and conversion rate alone. 3. The price. Is your price in line with other sellers? That’s something I have been thinking about is if a listing gets lots of clicks but no buys 1. The front photo isn’t bad because it caught the attention of buyers. 2. The price wasn’t too bad because people are interested. So this leads me to believe it’s something else in the listing that is the turn off. You could add a longer specific descriptions, add more listing photos & a video. Both of these things might help- the only caution I’d use is try to only redo one listing at a time as you’ll see a drop in views at first.

hope this helps, good luck!

Re: Help on selling

I would say your photos could be much better. Some of them have the image cut off (Lloyd's doll has her head cut off). Some are sideways (keepsake box). Some need to be staged better. TBH, photographing them in situ on a kitchen counter or on a bed or on the floor is unappealing.

Most of the listings I looked at had no dimensions at all.

To help with getting found, make sure your shop (and all items) are fully optimized. For the shop, your shop title (where you say "Sharing My Memories") should have keywords in it. Your shop sections all need the word "vintage" in front of them. Because you have a lot of Shirley Temple and Longaberger, you should have shop sections for them. All 3 of those places are very important for Google searches. As vintage buyers ourselves, we know that collectors and buyers search Google FIRST for the items they are looking for.

Re: Help on selling

Honestly, you might want to ask for a Shop Critique. Your photos are not very striking, I clicked on one Books- The World we Live in and the first image you can barely see the books. I thought you were selling the furniture. It was only when I read the title I realised it was the books for sale.

Also, you havent completed your shop - no banner, no About Page - Etsy penalises shops that aren't "complete."

Start a thread in Shop Critique and get some feedback. You posted this in technical issues but that's more for bugs.

Re: Help on selling

I am not an expert but I feel your prices are too high. Have you looked for other people selling your books online? The Shirley Temple one is available for a quarter of the price you are asking, the The Illustrated Encyclopedia of The World’s Great Movie Stars is available for a fifth of the price. The Miracle on 34th Street - A Hollywood Classic book is available for an eighth of the price!

I would do more research on the pricing. If you don't want to sell them for that price because they mean something to you, then keep them.

Re: Help on selling

I would look at your titles, perhaps could use some tweaking. There is lots of info in the Help Center at the top of this page. Here is some info on SEO.

Re: Help on selling

@SpecialMemoriesbyDee   I think your pictures should be redone.  They are gloomy and many don't show the full item.  The Shirley Temple book is extremely overpriced, IMO.  Good luck!

@SpecialMemoriesbyDee

Of course the condition of a vintage item is one of the first considerations when pricing vintage. Your book appears to be in very good condition. You may want explain that in your listing not just in photos. I have to agree with the poster above,  you may want to research average prices on things. Do a search with "Shirley Temple Book edwards 1988 " and compare your book to theirs to ascertain a price.

Re: Help on selling

From what I see in your shop, it most probably has nothing to do with Technical Issues.

You may want to ask for a shop critique. Many things can be improved.

Re: Help on selling

Your items are way overpriced considering most of them are saturated on the market; I researched a couple items and found them on ebay having sold for about 1/4 of the price... with free shipping.  Vintage shoppers do their research, so unless you have something no one else has or in a condition superior to every other seller the photography and SEO issues are moot.
