Hello Everyone!
I wanted to post about something that just happened to me, so that you can be on the lookout. I had a customer contact me that her package wasn't delivered, even though USPS tracking showed it was delivered three days ago. After a lot of back and forth, we figured out that the house number on her shipping label was incorrect (e.g., it should have been 2215 and it was 2219).
I double-checked her order, and she had entered the correct house number as her shipping address. When I went to (re)create a shipping label through Etsy, I saw that Etsy automatically changed the house number in the address for the label. I want to stress -- this was NOT a case of Etsy suggesting a change based on USPS recommendations. I have had that happen before. I've also shipped to this customer twice previously (to the correct address) and this did not happen. This was just flat out an error on Etsy's end. I am stressing this because, when I reported this through Etsy chat, I was told that it was a case of Etsy suggesting a change based on USPS recommendations, even though I had screen shots to prove that's not what happened. There was no heads up or indication that this very small, random, and totally incorrect change was made.
Of course, I will now make it a habit to compare the addresses my customers provide to the addresses that are generated for the labels, but I just wanted to give everyone else a heads up in case -- like me -- you had assumed all of that would automatically populate correctly. I wasted a good portion of my Saturday trying to hunt down this package! (I'm going to give a quick high-five to the local TX post office that helped track down this package though: On a Saturday, a USPS worker literally went out to the house herself to check on what happened! It was the most helpful USPS encounter I've ever had!)
Happy Shipping!
Thank You for the Heads Up. There was another Thread where the Seller said the same thing.
I tried searching to see if I was the only one who's had the problem, but I didn't find the other thread ... I'm not on the forums very often, so I may have looked in the wrong place!
@FindAPennyPaperCo Here is that Thread. Same problem as you are having. Not good.

@FindAPennyPaperCo sounds like the validation system made an unintentional error. I never even knew it could automatically be changed so thanks for the heads up.
This was brought up several months ago in the forum. Here's one of the other threads:

Yikes!!! Thank you so much for the heads up!
Thank you for reporting. Can you tell us what transpired with your conversation with Chat? Did they eventually understand the issue?
