My titles are now showing up with all their commas. Wassup?
No it hasn't ended. If you do a search for anything you will see that some titles are single words.
I was in search results earlier. And there were commas within Titles (not mine, I removed them). But I saw commas with no space after them (it all ran together). I thought I was out of this test (for now), but I did see some Titles which only contained 2 words. So I'm not really sure if I'm out of it for now.
I see full titles when I do a search
I'm still seeing some seed listings as just the number 50 (or whatever amount is the first "word " in title.) This is doing an incognito search
I'm still seeing cut off titles, 1-3 words showing that at times makes no sense as to the item being sold.
But I'm also seeing titles that have punctuation after the first 1-4 words, so not sure why some titles are cut off and others aren't.
For your info: Titles are not cut after punctuation but after commas and hyphen...! If you replace commas with punctuation you get/see the hole title.
"If you replace commas with punctuation"
What!
Former journalism student here... I am confused.
*edit* I see you are in Denmark. Okay. But what would you call a comma?
Oh dear - You are right - my fault - I was carried away! I was thinking of period (.) which we call punktum in danish.
LOL! Okay, that makes more sense. Thank you for explaining. So you were saying:
For your info: Titles are not cut [off] after [periods] but after commas and hyphens...! If you replace commas with [periods] you get/see the [w]hole title.
It's okay. I speak no Danish, so you win anyway. ; )
still seeing short titles in search
BUT the descriptions have returned to the right side... for now.
ditto and ditto for me. Descriptions on right, short titles.
If they are insisting on continuing the one-word test, what would happen if we all just titled every single listing as "Etsy" That's it. Just "Etsy" Would a paradox form and the internet implode? Would the Etsy bots all be fried? Lol
I'm still seeing titles with no commas. Not sure whether to edit all my listings or wait and see if they keep this. And, I am seeing the descriptions on the side, that's good and hopefully will stay.
yes, the descriptions are back on the right side....hoping they stay there...
I'd guess that when they took me out of description test, I also went out of title test. Regardless, I'll complete removal of all punctuation - almost done, and it doesn't look too bad.
Thanks all.
The truncated titles are still here, but a lot of sellers have rewritten their titles, so there are fewer short ones to see. If a comma is used with no space around it (e.g., dress, skirt), it will show the whole phrase. But the search engine will not find dress or skirt in your title. Even without the truncating, a comma changes your search words. Search engines are looking for a combination of letters or numbers with a space either side. For example,"dress, skirt, blouse" will only net "blouse" as a search word. Someone would have to type in "dress," or "skirt," to find those hit words. We did some playing around with Etsy's truncated titles and made a list of suggestions here:
Hope this helps.
The item description is back on the right side in my shop but my titles are still cut off when I make a search. I removed all commas for about half of my listings. I´m fed up now and will leave the rest as is. Who knows what Etsy will cook up next? Make all listings disappear that don´t have any commas?
My titles are still truncated. They were ok for 1 day then back to truncated again. Most of mine start with 5" (5 inches) which is how my customers search. Sales down 30% this month due to this problem. I am not about to edit 600 titles only to have Etsy change their mind again. I'm spending that time on a Shopify store. Etsy is really scrambling with all the tests and programs.
Today I am seeing one word and 2 word Titles. So I'm pretty sure I'm am in the test.
I see this is still going on. Does anyone know if it's going to end or should I adjust all my titles to have no commas.
Thanks!
