Handymade Policy - Featured or not featured?

Jump to solution

I joined etsy in 2021 as a small side hustle, til regulatory changes in the EU and Austria. I am a 3D printer so I just changed my listings to Downloads for a while. This year I got my professional degree in 3D printing 🥳🥳. And now I officially registered my 3D print company!!!

The problem is this: Due to my many changes in the listings (from physical to digital and back) the products or my shop probably lost the "HANDMADE" label. (I am referring  to: An update on how we’re keeping Etsy special)

I never created new listings I just changed the existing ones.

Can I do anything to get featured again?
Is there a way to see to see if i am correct here?
Do I write a to the normal support for this?

Have they sent you notice that your listings are under review? This is only talking about listings whose integrity is questioned as being handmade. If you have received no such notice, then it is not applicable to your shop or your items.

There is nothing support can help you with on these questions.

Your items are still labeled as handmade.

That announcement is more about identifying the products that are fraudulently listed as handmade, and unless Etsy has started deactivating your listings, this will not affect you at all.

Thanks for your answer! Now I am more reassured. However, it is said that such listings are no longer deactivated but only no longer be featured. That's why I was so unsure.

Quote:

"We’ve heard your feedback that listing removals can be disruptive to your businesses, and we believe making more space for human reviews will help reduce instances where we remove items in error, while still enabling us to limit the visibility of items that may violate our Handmade Policy. As we test this new process, we’ll also be working to add more transparency to let sellers know if their listings have been temporarily removed from search for review."

Would such a notification be sent by mail or via the etsy platform?
I just checked my messages on the platform. There was nothing to be found here.
However, I lost access to my old email account and all the mails in there, which support was able to change for me recently.

You'd probably have a notice on your dashboard as well as an email.

If you are using existing listings to create brand new listings that don't relate to the existing listing, you aer actually violating Etsy's guidelines.  Copy is used for similar listings to create a new.  Editing is only for the exact same item being uploaded again,

So your 3d art should have had brand new listings and that would have included the handmade designation.

Thanks for your response!
My thought was that technically it relates to the same product. Why is that even an option? (Changing a physical to a digital listing)
So you would say that my concern could be correct and there is some form of a shadow ban on my shop. I can't see a performance difference between  a newly created listing and one the exists for longer.

Hi, You asked about a shadow ban type of thing.  In the Announcement you referenced to (above), it says:

Adding more human reviews to our enforcement processes. While we need to use automated systems in order to review the millions of listings on Etsy, human reviews are critical to ensuring those decisions are accurate. Now, when a listing is flagged by our automated controls for potentially violating our Handmade Policy,  it will remain active but not appear in search results and recommendations in order to give our specialists time to review the listing. Our team will determine if it should be removed, or if it can be sold on Etsy and be made visible again. The review process typically takes less than 24 hours.**
_____________

So it looks like if a listing is under Review, Etsy won't remove it from your Shop, but it won't be "visible" in search results or recommendations.

Hope this helps.

Thank for your answer! Do you know how to see if such a thing is happening? We already discussed that, there should be some form of notification.
