i have been dealing with a lot of issues with my Etsy store, the biggest one being that 2 of my best-selling items have been falsely deactivated claiming not to be hand made wail i did and actually sent video proofs of me making them to Etsy support. but they have failed to reply or give me a real explanation on why they have been deactivated.
i have other items similar to those two only in different colors and less popular which wasn't deactivated so i suspect a bot was involved in the deactivation.
but what can i do if i upload a product that follows the Etsy handmade guidelines but still gets deactivated? what does their rules worth if they themselves don't follow them?
Go to chat and ask to be emailed by a support team for deactivated items as yours have been removed in error. Getting to that team seems to work better than going through the help link and hoping they email you back..but I'd do that too.
i did last week and it led to nothing =( now the chat system seems to be broken and I received no replies on the other end
Compare the listings to see if the deactivated one had something written that may have traggered the BOT.
Listing Mature Content Correctly - Our House Rules | Etsy Review the policy and see if the item may contradict Etsy's guidelines.
Warning to potential resposnders, this shop may have items you disagree with,
absolutely nothing they are word to word the same as the ones that still up on my shop
the only difference is their color and the fact they are less popular
my store is "mature" oriented but based on Etsy Mature content it seems I follow all they ask for
Then unfortunately all you can do is contact via the help link>contact> seller> manage shop items> item deactivated and click still need help and contact through the email link and hope they get back to you. They will probably answer with a bot response but reply still need help to that email if possible. It is ridiculous I know. Good luck!
I would also check Google images for those listings and see if the photo has been stolen by a manufacturer.
The deactivation process is fully automated and scans listings as they go live. That means when a new listing is published, when an existing item sells and renews, or when it is edited and renewed, or expires and renews.
The fact that you have similar items still up simply means they haven't yet been picked up on renewal. When they do, it is likely they will be removed if the descriptions and images are the same.
The AI filter makes the removals, then a staff member checks them manually and reinstates them IF they meet the listing criteria. It can take a week to 10 days at the moment. With 7 million shops there a LOT of listings to check.
You can stress about it, or you can just accept that Etsy is now a semi- curated site. Listings have to be checked after listing before they become visible to buyers. The up side of this is that more and more counterfeits are being caught as a result of this, personally I'd rather put up with the delay if it means more Etsy illegal listings are caught.
