Hello!
I'm very new here on Etsy and posted my very first PDF printable poster. Then I got so excited when someone bought one and asked for my email. Being so gullible, I gave out my email and they asked for confirmation because the buyer is paying me. I was dumbfounded there because I thought it's just instant. Being too excited I clicked the link and led me to a Stripe site asking for my card details. I thought that probably they were asking me for my debit account.
I stupidly placed my details and sent it to them. Jokes on them though because I'm so poor HAHA.. I have like 16php balance in account and they won't be able to get through it because my bank is pretty strict. I'll be issuing a new card today and get it replaced.
Lesson learned! So I'm sharing my experience to you guys that they are so active to new sellers.
Don't get too excited and be shrouded by emotions... huhu
I'm going to post three threads that all sellers should read, two from Etsy and one I wrote:

Scams are currently rampant.

Thank so much for the details!
I'm sorry you got caught but thanks for sharing.
If you really had an order it would show up on your order page.
If it's not there, then there's no order.
Did you not see a pop up on the message page that if a message was from Etsy it would be in the "FROM ETSY" section on the message page?
If it's NOT there it's NOT from Etsy.
This is the easiest way to know it's a scam. If that message is in your inbox and not in the "from Etsy" section, it's a scam.
You also should have had a light orange BOX warning right on the message section about these scams.
BUT if you clicked "OK I got it" without reading the info, then you won't see it again.
There's plenty of info on the help pages about getting paid here.
A MUST read for any new seller before they ever open a shop.
There's nothing that states on the help pages that you have to send Etsy or a buyer your email, your bank/CC info etc to get paid.
Etsy has it and a buyer never needs it.
I'm wondering if it's an app vs desktop/full site issue. I saw all the info, pop-ups and warnings from etsy in my shop manager but only on my desktop. I didn't see any of it on the sellers app.
I did see in the messages that it warned me of spam messages! But I just got too excited
I mean no disrespect whatsoever but I cannot believe this is happening to so many people. The forum needs it's own scam section.
I agree! People will find out quicker that way too if we had a scam listing they can look through…..
Seriously! But where is the common sense? People must be creating new shops without learning anything about how etsy works.
And honestly I think we all need to pay close attention. It's going to be happening more, out in the rest of online retail as well as Etsy. Sobering but forewarned is forearmed, at least some...!
We hear this almost every day. They tend to target new sellers just hoping you will get excited and not know any better. Unfortunately, these scams are becoming very common, not just on Etsy, and they will only get worse during the holidays. If you haven't already, run a virus scan on your computer, and change your passwords everywhere, not just for that account.
When you get an email like that, don't click any links in the email because that will go to a fake site that looks like the real one, where they will try to steal identity or financial information. Instead go to the real site the way you always get there, and look to see if the notice is in your member's area. If it isn't, it is probably a scam.
Etsy will never ask for your email because they already have it. Anything from Etsy should be in your Messages folder under the From Etsy tab. If it is a real sale, it will show in your orders page.
I understand! next time, I'll check in the orders area and not in the messages. I just got too excited over first time selling. And being too unfamiliar with the site, I got myself into trouble. Thank you for your concern!
Yes scammers count on people being excited and not thinking straight. A similar scam is getting an email that say a credit card/bank charge is being processed, it is correct? That gets people excited and they forget they shouldn’t click on that link. They should contact bank or credit card via info they already have, not from email info. It happens but you are much wiser now!
Thanks for sharing.
