A customer made a purchase of an item on my page. I have had a slow down in traffic recently which I find very strange since that happens when I dont post for a while. I reach a certain amount of items in my shop and I dont want to post more until I sell some items as I prefer to keep a specific number of items in my shop. Etsy seems to want you to post regularly to maintain sales Ive noticed. All of a sudden I sold an item. I saw the item in all 3 etsy apps which I have. And on my desktop. The customer was from England. Later in the day I got another sale and noticed the first sale wasnt showing up for some reason but I had communicated with the 1st customer as he had asked for a discount on the item before purchasing. I had sent a coupon code. He stated he did not know how to apply so I stated I could manually adjust after the sale. I had not yet done this. I thought maybe I was seeing things or imagining things and reached out to this customer and let him know I wasnt seeing his order for some reason. I was confused if he had not actually placed the order and my mind was playing tricks on me or if he had done something on his end. As I was awaiting his response I recieved an order for the item. I naturally assumed the customer had seen my message, and on his end somehow fixed the issue weather by purchasing the item or regardless, it was now showing up.  However upon closer inspection I realized the item had been purchased by a different customer. Now totally baffled, the first customer reached out very cinfused and stated he has been charged for the order, saw the order confirmation which has now also disappeared from his account as well, and now its showing up as unavailable and sold out. I have no idea what to do since I cant refund a customer that I have no order for. And I cant send this poor man the item he ordered when I have no information for him. I want to give the best customer service in this situation but how am I supposed to do that now when I have to explain to a second customer I have to potentially cancel their order? Can anyone please help me? Why does etsy not offer any technical support for their buyers. This is totally unacceptable. Why do we pay fees for a playform that offers zero accountability and zero support to its sellers?

@TheHappyCowboy  :  Have you checked the "Completed" tab of your Orders and Shipping Page (preferably via browser as this forum is full of reports of issues with the Etsy apps) to make sure that Etsy did not cancel the order? The Orders and Shipping Page should be the ultimate source of truth for the status of your orders.

Do you get email notifications of orders? You can check there to get absolute proof that the first order did come through, just to ease your "mind playing tricks" worry.
It sounds like Etsy canceled the sale without telling you, which can happen. But surely they should have informed the buyer.

I did do that. And no I do not have an email confirmation and neither does the customer. I asked him to check as well. I was just so certain I saw that order. Its just so bazar. Im not sure what happened. And I feel bad for the customer bcz I believe he is telling the truth. I dont know how to handle it.

I know it has been a while since your situation, but I'd like to know how it turned out. I came to your post because I was interested in learning how to manually adjust/give a discount after the sale, as I have offered discounts but no one seems to ever use them. I wanted to know if it 'only appears' as though the discounts are not being used, but Etsy actually reduces any amounts from the selling price to the purchaser. Any help would be appreciated. TIA.
